My son's new Paramount
My son's new paramount....
I bought this for him for 300.00 last summer. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't horrid either. This is how he has it right now.

More fotos later.

'70s chromed 531 frames are peak achievement. You're a cool dad. And he's a thirsty lad...

Beauty! Plus, how great is it to share this interest with a child! I just finished building up a vintage Cannondale for my son and he loves it.

Nice. Tri-bottle holders for bikes with no mounts didn't occur to me, but now I look at it and wonder why. As long as you don't need a saddle bag, it's a great solution.

Sweet ride! A chrome Paramount is one of my bucket-list bikes! I heartily approve of the comfy Brooks bar tape and the seat-mounted water bottles- once one gets used to it, it makes so much sense to mount them there.

I worked in a factory welding for years but on the side was a bike mech and musician. A few years ago an old friend asked about Aaron, my son, and what he was doing these days. I said he gigs most nights and is head wrench at Bushwhacker. My old friend says Aaron admires you but I didn't understand it until he pointed out the Aaron was doing the things I loved to do. Funny how you don't know how you influence your kids. It never even occurred to me that I caused that. I just liked that he seemed like a really good human being. My daughter too.

Alas, my son shows no interest in cycling at the moment, but hoping that will change as he matures and possibly finds himself in a place where riding is more convenient than driving.

I talked to the manager regularly and there is big concern about modern bikes with hidden cabling. It takes quite a while to get comfortable working on and has no benefit for the average rider. They also don't care for irregular seatposts. They are happy to sell you a new bike but some of the modern stuff is beginning to bother at least this retailer.
