JPR seat post woes.

I am in the process of building a Gitane Super Corsa for a gentleman and have run into a set back. The bicycle is complete enough to ride and after a brief trip around the block the new owner stated he felt the seat slipping backwards. I adjusted the seat moving back to something of a correct orientation and attempted to add a little extra torque that is when a heard a sudden snap. I have another post exactly like this on my PX10 and have logged a lot of miles on that bike without incident.

Looks like I found an eBay listing for just the part I broke, anyone have any experience to share? I imagine I just need to keep the two bolt’s torqued evenly and not overdo it?

these pillars do not seem to enjoy a strong grass roots following

when mounting the new clamp part remember to grease well the mounting bolts

this gives better "feel" when tightening things down...

Enough of those seatposts come up at eBay NOS and used, so there should be no problem replacing it. They are not that expensive either.
The JPR seatpost is actually a good design with its rwo bolt micro adjustable clamp and light weight. You just don't hear of them that much as they live under the big shadow of Simplex in the French component market.

I have been using one on my Motobecane for several years with no problem. I like the easily accesible micro-adjust bolts.

I'm in the camp of 'I could never get that thing tight'. The last one '66 used would hold angle fine but would bounce and slowly shift changing the power points.

I'll use SR 2 bolt or the first thing that correctly fits.

Hurts when going on French build.

I have one of those on my Motobecane Grand Jubilé and haven't had a problem with it.

Two rides around the block now, so far so good…

The post is among the minority of European parts.
