The story about Campy's lame attitude at the time, Tulio's wake and Jim's part at the time speaks volumes about it all.

The story is out there and BQ had it also.

The Shimano sticker is not under the clearcoat

I’m sure it was added on because he was sponsored, not because Jim put it there.

Greta seems non-plussed. She gave it a once over and looks confused, it’s the first non-campy bike in the litter.

to me, it’s screaming for some Campagnola Shamals. I just need to figure out the Shimano counterpart..

Will I always have to share my fur with this?

Is it a crack? Or just paint damage

she is very impressed with the RD cable routing, From just south of the headset to the RT.

She wonders what would happen if a cable ever broke.

Check this out too.

https://pezcyclingnews.com/readersrigs/readers-rigs-museum-stunner-shimano/

We know Jim didn't put it there but it was indicative of the importance of what he did do that got them put on these bikes.

Shimano Dura Ace AX crank question

There are some wheel pics there, likely not all the same but maybe can help.

the purple grenouille aibiding quietly in the background is an Andy Bertin product circa 1960

it looks like there may be the remant of an Andy Bertin eagle transfer on the seat tube

alternately it may have been contract supplied to Urago

have had the Urago version in the same livery hangin' in me racks fo' many a yar

it exhibits the same livery but is very faded from weathering, its silver d-box is just discernable, IIRC it is constructed of Vitus

serials look like this in the Urago version

marking above axle slot is the serial; marking below indicates Urago and the year

my example is 1960

1961 was the final year for the Simplex Competition manual front gear mech

suspect location may be in San Diego area

would be great if a forum member adopted it so we could have a thread on it

perchance bertinjim will be able to comment...

Late to the party, but....

To clarify - when acquiring, it counts as one. When selling, etc., it counts as two. Entire national economies are run based on similar principles, so it must be sound.

That's lower than a chainstay brake with the wheels off.....

Wait...is it Greta that you have the three-out-one-in agreement with?

Since Greta is unimpressed I think you'll have to send it to me so I can see what Iggy thinks...

Bob, this is Annika (formerly) of the Portland bike shop. Please consider putting that bike in your will for me haha
