The Lowly Seatpost

Nola's at it again; an interesting discussion of something that often gets overlooked. Until it gets stuck.

100% agree re: the Brompton 'pentaclip'. In my short tenure with a Brompton, it was revelatory...also, the price is eye-watering compared to the common stamped steel ones.

That said, if you've got a 7/8" seatpost and a challenging fit, it's the best you'll be likely to find easily. It may even work with the flat rails, if you file out the clamps.

Thanks, nice read.

Campagnolo 2 bolt is the best design IMO.

1 bolt Laprade style, 2 bolt Campagnolo style or even a 2 bolt sliding arc style, it doesn't matter to me, as long as it is not a stamped steel, multi-piece clamp. I'm not worried about the weight, it is just such a clunky solution for a seat to seat post interface.

Thanks for pointing us to the article Korina. Seatposts may be under appreciated. The article was good at showing that there was and is some creative and clever solutions.
