From the photos it appears that the chainrings were on both sides. Probably a safety measure if you dropped one chain.

No, the one pic was flipped.

That was a joke. I guess it was a bad joke, or you just didn't get it.

there is a lot of material for what could go wrong in old Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated, plans

Funny this discussion is happening at the same time the "Made" show is going on in Portland, OR. Seems like this might be the "new" Interbike.

Um, no.

I wanna know what happens when you hit 49MPH...

I used to see something similar around here - a young dude on a surfboard hanging on for dear life to the leash on his Siberian Husky. The Husky, of course, was having the time of his life.

Let's start with the Surf Bike. This is so safe, no helmet is even required.

What, exactly, did they do to 48 mph? Barstool in the back of a pickup on the freeway? What happened at 49?

It's a thing.

Two dogs probably make it easier!
I've biked a couple times with my pooch, with the leash strapped around my waist. It was a ...thrill to be towed over 20mph on pavement but finagling the leash so it doesn't catch on the bars or controls was nerve-wracking.

I had ambitions of having a couple Euro hounds, when I lived where it snowed....

Wildwood 08-30-23 10:50 AM

Looking thru very old bike literature for crazy duds - I found the handwritten notes and tube selection from Jon on my Tallerico custom build. THANKS. :). Also, a paper map from SCCC (i think) with the mountain roads I traveled back in the day in the Santa Cruz Mts (Bonny Doon, Zayante, Felton - Empire Grade, Mt Charlie, etc)

Nothing up to the standard of this thread, just some disappointing products.

Thats how I exercise my dogs everyday.

Not both dogs at once though, that would be a disaster. And not competitive.

There was a learning curve for all of us. And maybe 3 crashes.

I had that Cateye Solar bicycle computer back in the 1980s. As I recall, it was one of the lowest-priced electronic bicycle speedometers that had an optional cadence function. And 4 different acoustic signs!! So at least one item on that contraption was of high quality. :)

Now if I'd just done a better job of preserving my riding mileage records from back then...

OK so here we go, a conventional crank that that turns an electric generator, that charges a battery which in turn drives a motor and then it drives the wheel... no appreciable benefit but sells for $3000. no need to charge it up at night... we are saving the planet!!!
