I bought that bike new. I had a steel Allez from 1982-83 that I bought new as well and when the carbon fiber came out I bought one. sweet riding bike and pretty to look at.

Interesting. I happen to have a Sirrus from what looks to be the same era I bought cheaply for its parts. Never really rode it, except for this picture I took before parting it out. Maybe I should dig up that frame ...

^^^^^ My '90 Sirrus (not a triple) definitely punches above its class. I'm seriously considering triple-izing it for an upcoming ride that includes some challenging climbs.

Beautiful bikes - 1990 Specialized Allez Epic

Second generation "Epic" is painted all over and much lighter - 1994 Specialized Epic

The second generation being lugged and painted, and displaying NO reference to CF, it passes as a very light OS steel bike.
Probably because TREK started selling OCLV in '92.

One of these came up on the local CL a few months ago. I convinced myself (probably wrongly) that it was too big, showed it to a friend of mine, and noticed it was gone a couple days later. Oh well....
