Blue Peugeot PX10

Just finished this up today. I believe it is a 1969 or 1970 Peugeot PX10. The rear derailleur is stamped with a “70”. The shifters and front derailleur are not original. I overhauled it and put it back together using the components as it came when I purchased it. Had to work on the rear derailleur and replaced the back rim. Rode it today for the first time and seems to be working well.

Looks great! The blue isn't as iconic as the white, but personally I like it better. What it really needs are some Simplex Retrofriction shifters, but those power-ratchets are a lot nicer than the original Simplex that would've been on it! Did you check that stem for cracks at the top of the expansion slot?

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I did check the slot on the stem and did not see any evidence of cracking.

Nice! Did all the blue ones come with that blue Criterium RD?

Arktiger 11-10-23 07:23 AM

I’m not sure. I assumed it was related to the year the bike was made. I have been unable to find much information on that particular (blue) Criterium RD. Any information is appreciated.

My blue '72 PX10 didn't.

Per this thread here on BF, that's a Simplex PresTige CRITERIUM AR537 rear derailleur, produced from '66-'70, after which the label was silver foil.

My 1st road bike was an, old blue, px10 that I bought at a thrift store. It was my daily rider for many years. The parts where gradually replaced over the years, with only the crank left as original. It was destoryed in an apartment fire about 1983. I miss that bike-

Looks great and they ride that way too!

Nice bike! I respect anyone who can ride a PX-10 with the original 52-45 / 14-21 gearing.

Does it have a serial number plate on the bottom of the bottom bracket? It should be 6 digits, since yours is a late 1960s model. My lowly UO-8 is a 1970, and they had changed the downtube decals by then.

My UO-8 with barcon cables routed between the rack and the cylindrical Bellwether front bag.

Here is a picture of the bottom bracket showing the serial number. Your UO-8 looks very nice.
