Did you then ride the bike right away also or wait a while?

you could ride them gently right away. The lacquered glued trick dried quickly, maybe an hour or so before putting them under stressful riding. Overnight for fresh glue best before putting them under stress. I always used tire savers ( flint knockers) to reduce punctures even when racing (not on the track).
