I mount my tubulars with the tread as centered as I can get it. Base tape and stitching land where they land. Quality tires sewn up and taped on a good day? I get nice equal tape edges. Cheap Monday or Friday tires 30 years ago? They could be quite far off. But centered tape and an askew tread? I gotta look at that every time I ride and look down. No!

If you are that fussy, like others have said, a magic marker is your friend.
That nice, wide, thick base layer is very comforting to me and likely all riders of sewups.
me too but it should be black on a blackwall. I would send them back and get the other Vittoria blackwall that is actually all black but I like the vendor too much I dont want to bother them with that. Its not their fault I guess. Anyway, I dyed the base tape black with leather dye and it turned out pretty good. I test fitted them and they look good.
