Asian Serial Question

-----

looking at a machine contract produced for J&B Importers in Miami and marked with their Miami Sun badge

looks as though it may have been produced in Japan about 1968

serial is marked on left side of seat lug

wondering if it might be a Bridgestone product

the Asian Serial Guide does not give formats going back this far
https://thecabe.com/forum/attachment...0-jpg.1985569/

does anyone know an Asian maker who placed serials on left side of seat lug at this era?

Sorry, no clue, but I had no idea J&B was that old!

According to Bicycle Retailer and Industry News J&B Importers was founded in 1971.

If the bicycle is Japanese manufacture and from the 1960s, there is a chance that a JIS certification number may be on the frame. JIS Certification numbers where intended for the Japanese domestic market and not necessary on exported bicycles.

I have seen one Bridgestone serial number from the 1960's that was stamped on the seat lug. That serial number included an alphabetic character which is common with Bridgestone serial numbers.
