Yes I got a this bike from a friend. Its a Cross bike...with 26" wheels and slicks for tires. Suntour components...1 " Fork...Sugino Crank..1020 cromo .Horizontal Dropouts...I might make it into a single speed...I don't know...Any thoughts...?

An excellent candidate. Really, just about any frame that is reasonably light with dropouts that have some adjustment will make an excellent fixie. Bigger wheels ride a little better, though - with a fixed gear you're trapped in the riding position more than with a freewheel, and so ride comfort is pretty important. Maybe the tires have more cush? post some pics.
