Last summer, I found this Ford issued Devinci mountain bike at the rural landfill site (dump) near my summer cottage...

I am trying to downsize my collection to one vintage road bike...

And one vintage mountain bike, and the mountain bike will not be one of the Devincis. Nope, picking up a near mint vintage Peugeot mountain bike tomorrow morning. Sorry, no pic of the Peugeot - yet.

When I right size my fleet, I'd like to shrink it to 3 bikes: a vintage road bike, vintage MTB, and a vintage lock up bike/commuter. Easier to write this out than to do it, I'm afraid, :). Good for you for shrinking your collection down to something manageable.

You could send one of the Devincis to Jamaica! Haha.

Oooo. Nice one. A lot better bike than my 90s S”Limestone” hybrid which is heaaaavvvy.

I did a drop bar conversion on a Limestone I got free and took it on a 4 day tour. That thing was a tank and, yes, very heavy. Road nice enough though.

I'm with you. I went from 13 to 8 last year. Getting below that number is a little tougher than I thought.

Over the last 18 months down from twenty to a dozen. Like [MENTION=135635]scozim[/MENTION], further downsizing will be a little tougher emotionally - given years and miles - but I will get over it when the time comes.

Can't imagine [MENTION=84826]randyjawa[/MENTION] with only 2 bikes, he's been through hundreds. Times change fo' sure.

There was a time, actually a period of time, when it seemed to be common for a nutted rear and skewered front wheel(s). I am not sure why this was the case. Perhaps someone on the forum can offer a reason for the set-up.

Nutted front and rear for base models; QR for upper models; QR front for those in between. Reasoning: easy removal of front wheel for car transport in back seat or trunk.

Now that makes a lot of sense. Having always owned a half ton pickup, I never had to worry about the advantage for easy front wheel removal, to facilitate transportation. The older I gets, the more I knows. Thanks.

Price point concessions, I would imagine Randy. And Trakhak is right, it was pretty common.

The odd thing is that is seems to be a slightly better bike than the usual suspects for a nutted rear wheels.

I like the yellow Peugeot you picked up.

Well, an hour or so from now, both Devinci bicycles will have a new home. I am a bit sorry to let them go but that yellow Peugeot makes it all good...
