What are the Odds..?
Last summer, I found this Ford issued Devinci mountain bike at the rural landfill site (dump) near my summer cottage...
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7fe61d082d.jpg The one problem with the bike, a broken rear brake lever bar clamp... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...975c385447.jpg So, I bought new controls, installed them and good to go... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4856e9e948.jpg Today, I found this and dragged it home with me... https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0b88cec3e8.jpg I am trying to downsize my collection to one vintage road bike... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2199562254.jpg And one vintage mountain bike, and the mountain bike will not be one of the Devincis. Nope, picking up a near mint vintage Peugeot mountain bike tomorrow morning. Sorry, no pic of the Peugeot - yet. |
When I right size my fleet, I'd like to shrink it to 3 bikes: a vintage road bike, vintage MTB, and a vintage lock up bike/commuter. Easier to write this out than to do it, I'm afraid, :). Good for you for shrinking your collection down to something manageable.

Not a chance of taking one to Jamaica. I gave this away last winter to a friend in Ja for his mentally challenged son... https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...cd83c1b4ca.jpg And this one is just about rebuilt and it will be next year's Jamaica bike - I hope, getting pretty old... https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a6bba7cc74.jpg |

For all you know, you might find a nice low end Bottecchia for Jamaica duty! |
Just picked it up yesterday and, hopefully, this Peugeot will be my mountain bike...

Over the last 18 months down from twenty to a dozen. Like scozim, further downsizing will be a little tougher emotionally - given years and miles - but I will get over it when the time comes.
Can't imagine randyjawa with only 2 bikes, he's been through hundreds. Times change fo' sure. |
These are not all mine but I did donate a lot of those pictured to Bicycles for Humanity - Thunder Bay...
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...217635fbd7.jpg These were mine and represent one of three major downsizing efforts... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ac9075b76e.jpg Presently, I have under a dozen and still, believe it or not, going Dump hunting at least two times a week. Ya never know what will show up next... https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a863e54cc8.jpg |

Peugeot mountain bike #2. Based on apparent wear, this old Peugeot has seen very little use...

Interesting that they cheaped out on quick release in the back. There was a time, actually a period of time, when it seemed to be common for a nutted rear and skewered front wheel(s). I am not sure why this was the case. Perhaps someone on the forum can offer a reason for the set-up. |

Nutted front and rear for base models; QR for upper models; QR front for those in between. Reasoning: easy removal of front wheel for car transport in back seat or trunk.

I like the yellow Peugeot you picked up. |
Well, an hour or so from now, both Devinci bicycles will have a new home. I am a bit sorry to let them go but that yellow Peugeot makes it all good...
