Second Annual Monterey Peninsula Vintage Ride, Saturday, August 24th 10AM

With Eroica, California, in September and the Classic Rendezvous Western Rally in October, we're moving the Second Annual Monterey Peninsula Vintage Ride to Saturday, August 24th this year. This should give central valley residents a chance to get out of the heat (for a day at least) and with the long days of August, we'll be able to start the ride a little later (10AM) giving folks that are driving long distances a bit more sleep in the morning. Same starting point in the Walmart parking lot as last year (150 Beach Rd, Marina, CA 93933) which allows for a last-minute bathroom run, and basically the same beautiful route along the Pacific Ocean, along the Monterey Bay Trail, down 17 Mile Drive to the Pebble Beach Market for lunch before the return ride back to Marina. Entire ride, up and back, should be around 47 miles. Conversational pace, no-drop ride. Here's the basic route:

Marina to Pebble Beach · Ride with GPS

Hope to see you there!

There are times I really miss the Monterey Bay. I was Santa Cruz area. Still have the old SCCCC map of mountain roads with distances and elevation on a wall.

edit: I know, this map is not Monterey Peninsula = , but it is better than BUMP. Wish I could be there.

I have a lot of fond memories kindled in this map. Davenport and back in the early morning to avoid winds and up the mountain roads to get out of the fog at 0 to 400 foot elevation. And flying down...

If it is a little fuzzy - memories beat specific details, ... and confess little experience in the Watsonville region. Annual century to Monterey and return.

Another beautiful poster from the incredibly talented Frank Grape, with a design assist on the Camellia City logo from the also incredibly talented Jay Morris.

We had so many folks asking how they could get a ”real life” version of Frank’s Mt Hamilton poster and the upcoming Monterey ride poster that I went ahead and printed up the latter. The printer did a great job, and Frank’s work looks equally as beautiful when you’re holding it in your hands. So, there’ll be a free 11” x 17” poster for everyone that shows up for the ride.
