Chesini X Uno, who is IL Gatto? 🐈‍⬛🇮🇹

Hi all,

Sooo I just landed my new amore, and would love some help from you guys if anyone could help me our wirh some thoughts on the date and the mystery name pantograph IL Gatto?

My initial guess would be a custom order.

The bike is near NOS and as far as I can see has no scratches or wear, it looks perfectly preserved from time.

not sure of the precise tubes but from my research this era X uno used a mix of SLX and SPX so it could also be custom.

Also my call is that it’s mounted with an original first gen C-record group?

Happy for any help and input.
Cheers!

Yes^ but another way is to upload pix into the "album" in your profile page and somebody here can then copy and paste the photos into their post

Il Gatto. I think that means 'Ill Ride' in Italian

Riding it will more than likely bring more joy than hanging it on a wall. You can ride it and not abuse it.

I looked into "Il Gatto" when it surfaced at a local auction here in Sweden but could not find any information. If it had been in my size (58-60 c/c) you would have had more competition for it... ;-) You got it for a good price. I loved the really thick layer of dust on it. Jag avundas dig njutningen att få göra ren den.

Thank you, yes I feel really lucky. Love that it has been so well preserved and for now I kept it as is. I will enjoy cleaning it up one day in good time and bring it to life. I might post some transformation pictures a bit later on and with some luck the guys at Chesini can help me uncover some origins.

Without a doubt, that is the nicest IL Gotto I’ve never seen.

Lovely bike, it needs to ridden outside in the sunshine where that paint job will really dazzle, keeping it inside on a wall is sub optimal

Both preserve and ride! Chesini's are few and far in the US. This one is special!

Wowee.

So what's going on with the gear cable running through the BB shell - looks like the spindle has a channel for the cable?
