I have been riding my Kirk pretty much exclusively, ignoring my other bikes

Went to ride and found the kirk with front wheel flat, so I grabbed the 84 Team miyata

I had forgotten what a joy the team is is to ride,

I plan on doing more rotating of steeds in the future...it will be a small rotation the Kirk, the team and a to be named very cool bike in process

Personally, I'm also of the opinion that you should be out enjoying all of your bikes! Never really saw the point of collecting bikes just to have them collecting dust up in the attic or shed.

Having said that.... some of my bikes are more general purpose and do get used more than others.
Today was a good day to get out the 1974 Raleigh International and do about 35 miles. Lovely day and a lovely bike.

The International has been kept with a true "10 speed" drive train, so it's a five speed freewheel. Not the best for the fast group rides. The Raleigh Team or Olmo Competition tend to fill that need. It's nice to get the International back on the road and enjoy that copper paint sparkling in the sun!

point acknowledged, but in reality I am lucky and my 2, almost 3 bikes are a;; really nice/best , just in different ways :D and none will be a wall hanger because they are nice

most will be dirty because I have gravel loop, am getting into habit of washing weekly or so.....that said the team still had dust from 2021 Cino :beer:

I have a spreadsheet to remind me to use each of my bikes when an appropriate ride presents itself. With varying results. :)

Yep , the main reason I’m selling some . Don’t ride them as much.

I try to change up every ride, avoids bike boredom. The exception for this is sorting out issues, I'll ride multiple times in a row if I'm trying to solve a problem. My 82 Pro Miyata was ridden last week, it never fails to impress me. No problems with that one.

I did, very seriously, consider selling my newly acquired Team Miyata. Why" Simply because someone had expressed interest in buying it and, frankly, I do NOT need another bike. That said, the potential buyer's interest waned, and I ordered bar tap and new Campy hoods, both black. I happen to have a shorter Cinelli steering stem, so good to go there and, in closing, one thought has been nagging at me...

Will I ever get a more appropriate bike, considering my interests. A made in Japan with full Campy Super Record and in great shape..? Probably not. Time to give up the hunt. Sadly, an old friend and BMX enthusiast, just offered to trade me an old Torpado for this BMX something or other...

I don't get out nearly enough. When I do, which lately has been commuting opportunity, its the De Rosa Pro. The Pinny is for around town where I live, which is not where I work. that has hills the triple prefers.
It has been years since I rode the Colnago, which is slightly too small along with the Tandem. The Bianchi build was just finished and has not gotten any miles on it. The Bott is much the same. Both of the last two are in C&V 2x5 10-speed.
The Langster is languishing on the hooks.
The Trek 760 was used for commuting for awhile, so is in the rotation. The 610 is waiting for paint.
If I can find time between the yard and maintaining cars and yard tools, I will get the tires on the Pin matched and start putting it in the circulation.

I only want to use lighter bikes for the commute because part of it is by train and I don't want to lug a bike up the train stairs.

I have been seriously remiss in this regard and it’s high time I dusted them off, pumped up the tires and went for a ride. All N+1 squared of them. Same goes for my C&V cars. There never seems to be enough time!

I have five road bikes in the rotation. I try to be pretty fair and give every bike their shot at the "big show". They all have a 28T low sprocket, so they can all do what needs to be done.

As said elsewhere, my bikes are categorized by purpose, so usually get a weekly rotation: Tuesday and Thursday are grocery runs, so Trek w/trailer. Yokota is any days when the load is light (rear rack and/or pannies) or non-grocery wet days. Armata is when it is dry, no rain coming, and/or I just wanna freakin' fun fast foray!

Helps that I can only afford to have and store 3 bikes :P

Time to take out the rooster.

M-F is the commuter with an occasional pista (on-topic) night at Northbrook on Tuesdays.
Saturday is the off-topic road day.
Sunday is vintage road day. Much easier now I'm down to 1. But when I had several I was pretty good about rotation.

i was going to go out today on my Mooney fix gear but remembered the rear tire had issues so I grabbed the Pro Miyata. Windy and gusty. Decided that since I hadn't ridden since last Sunday, an easy low gear ride was the smart one. (And I have a minor groin pull. This aging stuff sucks.)

And ... what a joy! To just roll through county roads on such a fine ride!

LOL, for sure. I ride the same basic route day in and day out. So mixing up with all the different bikes keeps it fun and fresh.

I have 11 bikes, 4 single/dingle/double speed of which 2 are coaster brake, the others are multi gear, upright/dropbar, road or tourer. I try to ride them all.
The single speed bikes are more for around town or on rail trails. The rest are ridden everywhere! I often under bike.

I don't have any kind of an organized or even a semi-organized rotation. I have five bikes in rideable shape. The '78 Eisentraut has fenders and is my wet road bike. I won't go out if it's raining, but I will go out after the rain passes but the roads are still wet; and the Eisentraut gets those miles. The 82ish Ron Cooper and the blue mid-60s Cinelli are both set up to be Eroica- and Cino compliant (when I swap out the SPD pedals). Both have been to Eroica and the blue Cinelli has been to Cino. They each get out some, especially if an Olde Pharts on Olde Bikes event is drawing near. The '67 Paramount is set up as a commuter/town bike, complete with front basket, but I no longer commute and as a practical matter I do little to no "town" riding, so it mostly sits.:(

That leaves the silver mid-60s Cinelli with the Campy 10sp triple drivetrain. As I have said multiple times elsewhere in C&V, it is the best riding bike I have ever owned. I reach for it at least 90% of the time, probably more like 95%. The other bikes are great, but the silver Cinelli feels enough better to me that it is my go-to ride.

Thus my "rotation": is very lopsided. So sue me.:D

In the spirit of this thread (ty, squirtdad), I mounted some larger toe clips and rode my normal route on the '72 Torpado tonight.

It's a lil bitty thing, so it usually only sees trips to the store or the neighborhood poker game. Too classy to sell ... for now. :D

Have 5 road bikes that I rotate. Make sure they each get a turn.

I found that I wasn't getting much seat time on my vintage bikes or on my modern gravel bike. So, I have sold off two of my four C&V bikes and my gravel bike.

Side benefit, I have more room in the garage now.

If you ride one of your bikes for the first time in weeks or months, and DON'T think, "Hey, this is a pretty nice bike! I should ride it more!" why would you keep that bike?

Most of my bikes have unique personalities and I enjoy the distinctions so like many of you I try to ride a different bike each time out - recently disrupted by my Homer build becuase it takes multiple rides to dial things in right - but some of the fun is the calculus of how a given bike drives me to take different routes and vice-versa.
