Picked up a Hollands

Hello all,

I just picked up a John Hollands bike. I'm looking for some information on it as I purchased it from someone on behalf of the owners wife since he is ill. Does anyone possibly have an email for John of he's still available? I also purchased an Titanium Eddy Merckx from this "estate" if you will. He had great taste!

I'm really looking forward to getting this gem out on the road. It looks great and it will stand out from the crowd. It had a set of Campagnolo Eurus wheels but I'm going to run these H plus Son wheels. I also need to get the stem cut. The previous owner had his bikes set up to very upright.

That's pretty. I like that the extended HT still has a lug that's neat.

That Hollands looks like it'll be a nice ride! The way he did the extended headtube is reminiscent of how Colnago handled that on various steel frames in the '90s and '00s, with chrome only where the head lug would typically be and paint on the top portion... I never quite understood why but it worked!

Handsome bike. I dig that yellow and burgundy color scheme.

Unfortunately not. That's one of the things I'm hoping to find out if I can get in contact with him.

Thanks! I wasn't sure about the color until I saw it in person. It really is nice.

DOH! :twitchy:

Extended HT, long steerer, 1in. polished stainless spacer by Jamie Swan, supplied by gugie and the best Campy HS I had in stock with extra washers and elbow grease. ;)

I immediately thought: "this looks like the style paint that was done by Carlo Dossena" BUT I was replying to a different frame than this one...DOH!
Nothing here to see, folks, moving along, now

That seatpost is wild! In a good way :D

I've only seen that "lug" style of metal-to-carbon fiber done by Bruce Gordon and ... Seven? Independent Fabrications?

Le Mond too

There was also titanium lugged to carbon fiber Le Mond model, the Victoire.

Yes, sorry; I should have been more explicit. A variety of manufacturers have bonded carbon to metal, but most of them do it such that the metal is cut straight across. With the seatpost here, there's a scalloped cut, not a straight cut. That's what I meant to refer to as the "lug" style.

Unless the Ti/Carbon Victoire has that style? I own a Victoire, but it's all Ti, no carbon. I haven't seen one of the Ti/Carbon models in person.
