Takara Professional
I would be tempted to buy this Takara frame just for the "GUARANTEED Takara CRO-MORI TUBES" decal:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/25675300274...tedSearch=true A common epitaph in old New England graveyards is "Memento Mori," which I think translates to something like "remember you must die." The Puritans were a fun-loving people. Is "cro-mori" Latin, too? Who here speaks Latin? God knows plenty of us are old enough. |
I have been watching that frame for a while. Go for it, please.
Looks decent enough. If it didn't create logistics problems for me, I would buy it. So please do to save me the trouble ! |
This is another example of “Janglish” from back in the day.
It is supposed to be “Moly”. There is no “L” (el) sound in Japanese. Closest is a “rolled” R so words like Lock are pronounced “rock”. They just spelled it like they would say it. |
It always bugs me a bit when the seller removes the headset in selling a frame. No big deal replacing a headset but seriously the extra money isn't much.

The frameset is fairly handsome, and it is also handsomely heavy at almost 9 pounds! |
For a Takara it's not a bad looking frame. I wonder what grade the Cro-Mori, Tange 900 or 1?

It's especially annoying if the original HS had a very short stack height like some of the mid to late '80s 105 and 600s. Plus I bet they didn't have the right tools so just banged it out with a big hammer and screwdriver. At least he seems to have left the seatpost binder and dropout adjusters! |

They usually leave the headset in, judging from their other frames. So this one might have been worth a lot as a separate piece or damaged Or missing. What makes me nervous is when BBs are left in, like here. I think smart sellers tend not to even touch those, since you can't really know if it is stuck until you try to get it out, and then you either have to see the removal through or admit it's stuck if asked. Not checking let's them say "I don't know" if asked. |
