Seat Stay Pump Mount?

I have a Topeak pump, too short for top tube, too long for under the water bottle mount. Anyone have anything they have used/liked for seat stay mounts?

Google vintage bicycle air pump brackets and pick the one or set you want.

Sorry, no readily available photos but I put pump head at seat stay cluster (assuming pump has tabs to hold in place and cluster accepts the pump head) and then run pump along non-drive side seat stay, with the end of the pump handle resting on the end of the quick release (which runs up at an angle parallel to seat stay). The end of the quick release acts as the pump peg and everything is secured quite nicely and always out of the way.

I am fortunate that my mixte fits a Topeak Road Morph, 49-54cm frame pump, along the seat tube between the seat and chain stays. The slightly compressed pump will hold there with no strap, but not solidly enough for me, so a small strap is used. The pump head rests on the chain stay, the other end is concave and catches between the seat stay and seat tube.

I looked previously for an appropriate clamp-on peg that would fit the seat-stay to no avail- everything I found had too-large clamps designed for main-triangle sized tubes. There were a couple hacks/kludges folks came up with, but none very attractive. I've been meaning to try to come up with something that could be 3D printed to try.... but have yet to.

Seems like you need to get whatever exactly right and the hardware very durable, or that pump is going to bounce into your wheel.

Exactly. I think for now this pump can wait until I find a good solution. The idea of my pump going through the rear spokes is unappealing

Plus, it's "The Rules" approved! (As long as it's a Silca w/Campagnolo head)

Have you tried one or two velcro straps?

I have not tried that yet, but possible. My machinist friend has some nylon material we might try to mill into a mounting point

There is the time-honored technique of attaching pegs with hose clamps. I swear I have a vintage plastic mount that gets that small. Looks like a zip tie

I'll take some pics of my other bike where the orientation is flipped and the pump head is being pushed up against near the seat tube and seat stay junction, but here's this for now. Tubus seatstay clamp + some black rubber to shim it. Worked like a charm. I've never had an issue with it rattling or coming loose.

It may look like the braze on is preventing the clamp from moving up the seat stay, but the tubus clamp holds its position on my other bike without any such 'help'.

I do the quick release method on my International. It’s in there very snugly, not concerned about it dislodging honestly.

Thanks for this post!
I had to choose between putting my Zefal along the seat tube (and lose a water bottle) or under the top tube (not ideal as it contacted the brake cable stops). It was too long to use the QR. Now tried it on the chainstay and it fits perfectly under the seat cluster, doesn't even need a peg.

That’s it! That is what I was thinking and the Tubus part looks less kludgey. Will check their site

Piff How many pumps do you carry? Doesn't that Eros have a pump peg?

Sorry, like others, no real good pics either, but I have this short Zefal HPx that fits perfectly on my MegaTube Ti.

Get a small brazed on peg…It’s out of the way and won’t even be noticed when not in use….

 Yeah, it does have a pump peg! I was being cheap, I didn't want to purchase a new bike pump and used the opportunity to figure out a way to mount the pump in a new place.

As I mentioned earlier, here's the pump mounted in the opposite orientation. Yes, the philip's head bolt there is egregious, forgive me for I have sinned. The little metal torpedo looking thing that is attached to the tubus clamp is actually from a pump peg. Hacksaw'd that bit off, and it stays bolted in place using a couple lock washers and some good torque.

Here's a tumblr(?) post from Riv on how to do it, as well. It, along with some other threads I found, were my inspiration. https://www.tumblr.com/rivbike/18559...-own-pump-pegs
