Saddle/seatpost bottle holders

Has anyone found a decent saddle/seatpost double bottle holder that:

1. works with brooks or other leather saddles
2. doesn't look absolutely garrish with a vintage bike

I've been using a Nitto handlebar rack with a large bottle and room for food, but I cannot remember the designation. It is the older version of the Nitto F-019, and it works reasonably well, but I am looking for a way to hold a bit more water.

The downtube has a pump, and the seattube has a suicide shifter, so I am limited on the traditional mounts.

I've tried the Minoura double cage clamp, but it is too narrow to fit the Brooks saddles I tend to use.

I use the Minoura with Brooks saddles, though it has to be oriented differently than the way they picture it in sales photos- and in fact, the way it's pictured in those photos would likely leave to top of the water bottle poking into one's rear end. I also, on at least one of the bikes I've got set up with it, I clamped it in a vise and did a bit of bending to orient the bottles a little bit more toward upright, just a little. I don't really trust the threading in the thin black metal plate, so I use longer cap-head bolts and add a lock-nut. Takes a little getting used to bottles mounted like this, but it ends up being a pretty natural hand/arm motion to access, take a drink, etc.

Yeah, I have been debating that, and suspect that is the way I will need to go. Thanks for the photo. I could have sworn I recalled some sort of "wide" mounting bracket/adapter for them from several years ago, but certainly cannot find any reference to that now. Too bad.

the V distribution of flasks looks good but I would have a challenge swinging a leg over, especially upon dismount.

Yeah, I have to admit that if I'm not paying attention, or I'm really tired, or my back/hip/knee/joint-du-jour is bothering me I've gotten briefly 'hung up' on the bottle top. Not enough that I go down, just an 'oh... ouch'. The caps on those Kleen Kanteens make it worse. Could try to learn that leg-swing-over-the-bars thing the fixie hipsters do.... though I'd probaby be just as likely to get hung up on my rando bag!

I did the Minoura, but the set up is iffy if you hit rough riding. The bottles exit too easily. Be mindful of your cage and bottle combo, they need to be snug. Tall bottles need the groove ring that some cage hang onto (the indented area of the bottle}. YMMV

Defnitely this. I started with Velo Orange 'moderniste' bottle cages but they weren't secure enough to keep a stainless bottle in over a big bump. King Iris cages are very secure, though I do have a couple of those small bungie loops with plastic ball on one end looped around the arm of the Minoura that I loop over the top of the water bottle when I'm riding on really rough stuff.

Good to know. Thanks for the advice. I won't necessarily need quick access to the bottles in the rear, so I may go the route of using something to tie them down. Where I ride now, I can always stop and beg for water if I were to run out. I plan to move in about 6 months, and don't expect to have much around when riding, and the roads may be rough at times. I also expect less shade.

This is nice, but I think they only come in a one bottle setup

JATO bottle mount? I can think of a few hills where I could use that...

Probably not what you are looking for at all but this is what I've ran on my Y-Foil for awhile now. I pretty much don't worry about the vintage look for support items on even my most C&V bikes as I ride alone and proper self support is more important.

I also have a single bottom version of the same saddle bag where the bottle is suspended off the back.

I use a two-bottle seatpost mounted bottle holder from Profile on my fixed gear bike. Maybe not "vintage" but it doesn't bother me.
