Hi all, I just joined BF so i hope I’m posting this correctly.

I currently have a 1980 Fuji S12S 18sp. I have an
opportunity to buy an 80’s Fuji Gran Tourer special edition. But might only want to hang on to one. Are one of these Fuji’s “better” than another? I’m a recreational rider who also does a tiny bit of commuting when I can.

The S12-S was higher in the lineup, but I think they both have the same frame. I think the main difference was the alloy parts like handlebars and rims on the S12-S.

Absolutely, I get it and agree. BTW welcome to BF. I’m quite new as well and learning as I go. I’m an “early adopter” of a Fuji. Bought a Dynamic 10 new in 1975 when I was 24 and still riding (following some mods)! Proud to say the Dynamic 10 was rated “one of best choices available in $200-250 range”! Says something about 1975!
In addition to the bike’s components, do check condition for each bike. That might trump components. Also you can create an album for your photos. This allows earlier image posting prior to meeting minimum messages. Learned that from a fellow member.

The S12S is more of a classic bike compared to the Gran Tourer SE, the Gran Tourer is worth half as much as the S12S at between $80 to $150 unless it's in mint condition then it could go for as much as $250, but that's half as much as the value of the S12S.

You could keep both if the price of the Gran Tourer is very low and it's in really good condition, but you now have the value range, so you know not to overpay for it.

I forgot something, the S12S does migrate from being a high mid-end bike in 1980 to a lower mid-end bike in 1981 till 1983 when it's discontinued after that year.
