It's interesting how we live in such different places. I get to ride in rural areas in the mid-Hudson valley of New York State, and I've ridden in other rural areas over my life. I love it, and it might be my favorite kind of riding because of the beautiful scenery. It's probably more densely populated than your area. But if I never rode in an urban area, would I be happy? I don't know. For me, sometimes being away from masses of people is good for me. But at other times, being in the thick of it with lots of people seems to be good for me.

I get quite a few comments, probably because I'm in London. I do note them in my ride log and they usually give me a slight buzz.
A few examples ...

"Is that a Nishiki" from a guy in a white van, I just said "no".
That was in Putney, where Holdsworth had a shop until about 15 years back.

"That's a nice new bike" from a really old guy walking with some help from a relative or nurse.
I explained it was recently restored then realised it was probably new when he was about 13 and looking in bicycle shop windows - back in 1961.

Doing a photo shoot in Richmond park 2 years back and a group of about 5 older cyclists stop, turns out the 'leader' got married in 1961.

Another photo shoot in Richmond park 2 weeks back, random passer by asks about the bike and mentions that a vintage cycle club meets up at a nearby pub.
