Recent Univega Overhaul
Univega 1986 Gran Rally 58 cm. It needed a complete redo after putting 3,400 miles on it since I bought it several years ago. Did all the work myself. Upgraded seat, seat post, and stem. Overhaul of the bottom bracket, headset, and pedals. Deep cleaned the cassette and RD. New chain, tires, tubes, rim tape, bar tape, shifter and brake cables and housing. Only thing I haven’t completed is the wheel hubs, I am saving that for another day because I’m ready to ride. I also picked up a Gran Sport from an original owner for $100. Same exact size and it’s the same frame as the Rally but Suntour components and it’s grey.

Nice work! I know there were a lot of changes in nine years, but I really like my 1977 Grand Rally. I got the frame for almost nothing at a bike swap and built it up entirely from my parts bin. After I saw how great it rode, I gave it a fresh coat of paint, also from an old can I found in the cabinet.
