Trek year and model?

This is the only pic, it’s relatively local and I’m considering going to check it out. Can’t make it until tomorrow. Just curious if anyone can tell the year and model? Thanks

From the picture - I looks like a Trek 330.

Late 80's.

I used to own one - 100% original, in good shape, new tires. I listed it for $75 and didn't get one offer. Ended up donating it.

If it is a 330 - and this is something you may like, but I didn't - the bike was a noodle. I called it the old Buick, because it floated down the road.

I could be wrong, because that seat tube sticker is throwing me off... not sure if that sticker is stock or not.

Perusing the old Trek brochures, my guess would be an 83 400. Only the 82 and 83 years had the colored panel with the TREK lettering on the seat tube, and only the 400 came in silver with a red panel. Handlebars, and brake levers look like they were set up by a Schwinn dealer though, obviously it did not come that way. Of course we are assuming paint and decals are original!

I would guess around 1981. If so it might have the self-describing serial number that will tell you the tubing-that's right about when they switched serial number systems. I don't recognize the little sticker at the top of the seat tube. Definitely worth taking a look if it's your size.

They’re only asking $50 so it’s definitely worth a look.

Agreed!

I think it's an '83 400 as well.

Another vote for '83 400. Hopefully, you're already on your way to get it.

Go get it and we'll all see what it is sloar .

Picking it up tomorrow morning, I’ll post it with some info. Hopefully the seatpost isn’t stuck, but it’s still worth $50.

That would be my guess as well. I think I see a "Mangaloy" tubing sticker on the seat tube, which would also be consistent with an early 80s model 400.

83 400, nothing broke or stuck.

Nice pickup. A friend has the same as his daily rider and loves it. Switched to 700c wheels and wider tires with no problem. He can keep up on group rides and it's perfect for the crushed limestone trail riding he does.

Nice. What do you think you'll do with it?

SoCaled 05-13-26 01:08 PM

Nice pick-up. Wild how off the color was in the ad photo, the purple decal and water bottle cage have now magically turned the proper red, in your photo.

Plans are doing a 600 build, keeping the 27” wheels I have a set of new Paselas. Bar end shifters and a Brooks saddle. These make great riders.

+1 the 83 400 would make since it has single bottle cage mount and clamp on DT shifters later lesser models had shifters mounts and double BB cage mounts.

rekmeyata 05-13-26 10:58 PM

I think it is also a 83 400, but the fork looks bent but sometimes photos can distort things.

much better pic of the fork, looks good.

sloar 05-14-26 05:43 PM

Turns out that everything is in better condition than expected. I’m keeping it mostly original, except the brakes and shifters also switched out the front derailleur all for better quality.
