1980s Ciocc frame identification
 

Hi all,
Just picked up an old Ciocc frame on the world wide web, and im having trouble finding the year and model details.

The frame appears to have SL tubing based on this worn out sticker:

and the seat tube diameter, which is 27.2mm. There are unfortunately no model labels on the top tube.
Other potential identifying features include the cute little ten speed drive guy on the rear brake hangar:

this one confuses me the most, because all the sl frame documentation (sparse as it is) shows bikes with 1 bottle cage. Closest match so far is this sl frame from the 1984(?) Catalog, which has matching paint/decals but only 1 bottle:

so i suspect my frame is later than this. But i thought the ten speed drive bikes were all pre 84, so this confuses me.
Also thought braze-on fd hangars were more common after 84/85, but mine has none.

Any and all thoughts are appreciated, Im in the process of touching up all the rust spots with some rust primer and will then color match by hand. I dont think the paint warrants a full re-spray, although that could be fun(famous last words) and if the frame was just a frameset id feel less bad about it.
What group wold you put on this? Looks like the bikes only came with the various levels of campy, but imo anything lower than nuovo record is pretty ugly and i think a dura ace drivetrain would be fun and more wallet friendly.

assuming the paint/decals are original, this seems a match to what TSD sold as the Triomphe but possibly sold as a frameset rather than the full bike. Given the 27.2 seatpost then most likely is Columbus SL.
Another check to make is look up the bottom of the fork steerer for the "rifling".

TSD did also sell one with soild paint (no chrome) that usually came with NO Columbus decal and took a 26.8 seatpost which leads to conclude those were Aelle, same frames also seen with the "sprayed thru fishnet" paint.

Looks like the second set of WB bosses might be after-market "riv-nuts"

Mid 80s San Cristobal maybe?

If you are going for the era, Campy Super Record would seem to be what the doctor ordered? Maybe Nuovo Record

My Ciocc was a San Cristobal that came with Triomphe and one bottle mount but it was Columbus AL tubing (before they started calling it Aelle). Bought in early 1985.

So a Competition, then, since based on the 27.2 mm post size?

I thought San Cristobals were SL-SLX

Yeah, the original San Cristobals were top notch. They re-purposed the model name to the cheaper frames at some point around that time.

Ah i did not think about that, in that case it looks identical to the catalogue sl competition.

Thanks all for the replies. Im excited as this is my first rebuild involving painting, ill update with progress as i go. Even if just for yall to laugh at my mistakes :^)

If it rides anything like my Cioccina (Mockba model), you will love it. It has secret sauce in it.

It reminds me of my TSD Triomphe Guerciotti from 1984. If they spec'd like mine you could get an SL frame with Super Record, Victory or Triomphe. The other spec for wheels, etc looks identical to what was offered on my bike. I also have 27.2 seatpost and the TSD guy on my brake bridge. Only one bottle cage and no front derailleur braze on. It has a Columbus sticker, but the tubing is not specified, which I guess was standard back then.

Looks similar

Some beautiful bikes for sure. I like that they include guys in the shop finishing the frames. The logo on the down tube with the rainbow reminds me of the "reading rainbow".
