I am interested in any information about this bike. I lived in Australia a couple of years in the late 1990īs and traded it for a scooter. It was probably 5-10 years then and should therefor be manufactured around mid 1980 up to early 1990?
The original colour was pearl white and it had Ferrari stickers (original?) and one sticker TECNOTRAT (probably Frame manufactor). Equipment is all Shimano 105. Unfortunately I "restored" the frame and repainted it for daily use and subseqently removed all trace of its origin but for the TECNOTRAT sticker. I still have the bike and have tried to find out anything about its origin but until now with no luck whatsoever. The only hits on internet search for Ferrari roadbikes is the late carbon framed Colnagos. Was there actually a brand Ferrari earlier or was my bike just a personal decorated item of an Ferraristo? I forward som pictures of the bike in it's current condition. Don't mind the stickers and colour etc. Original colour was as the threaded rings on the forward part of the frame (white) Greatful for a tip of how to identify the bike. Anders Wendt Sweden New... The sticker on the frame reads: Superlight Tubing 0.8 mm Carbon manganese C 18 Specially made for TECNOTRAT Italy English would to me suggest: for an international market , or? The only lead I get from TECNOTRAT is a welding company in PORTUGAL?? Does any of this make any sense? Regards AW |
I jusst found this link when searching for TECNOTRAT.
http://groups.google.se/group/rec.bi...5f46b759a0717f Obviously the same type of bike. Do I understand it right that the frame is then a TECNOTRAT and not a Ferrari? So where does the "original" Ferrari stickers came from. A Wendt |
Hi...culling from the post at the following http://search.bikelist.org/getmsg.as...10207.0001.eml
Tecnotrat, better known nowadays as the manufacturer of De Bernardi frames, sold frames with Saronni stickers in the mid-eighties. About 1988 or 1989, they stopped using Saronni decals, and started using the DeBernardi name. Interestingly, the first batch of Tecnotrats imported into New Zealand in 1987 had Ferrarri stickers. So there ya go. Sounds like a 1987 Tecnotrat, later known as De Bernardi. |
de Bernardi's are nice bikes, btw. Probably just as nice w/o the Ferrari stickers.

Hello,
Suddenly it all fits... I tried to find some photo of the bike before I repainted it but only found it on some quick glances on VHS (standing in the background in the pergola) Iīm a bit frustrated that I didnīt check more carefully before renovating. It will probably not be easy to find original stickers and/or colour scheme...... Anyway, it was really nice to get the queries straightend out. Thanks to everyone for your help. AW, Happy owner of a 1987 TECNOTRAT/Ferrari made for the NZ market..... |
