Another Bent ebay frame???

Don't know if it's optical illusion or not but the top tube on this looks like it has a curve towards the head tube? What say you?? https://cgi.ebay.com/1978-RALEIGH-CAR...item5193c2484c

You know there are usually lots of opportunities to get a Raleigh Professional. I would say that the front
tire looks too close to the downtube. Without looking at the bike in person I wouldn't know for sure, but
why risk it

Are you suggesting an arching of the top tube? If so, I think that is an optical illusion.

I'm not sure - it's one of those you almost have to see in person to gauge it. Doesn't help that the top tube cable housing is bulged between the cable clamps.

Myself, I reported the item as the seller is listing it as "NEW". WTF? Huh?

That front tire is awfully close to the DT. If I had to bet, I would say it is bent.

I put a straight edge up to the picture and it looks straight, not the best method for sure!

You could email and ask him about that, keep him honest(or not)..I measured mine for distances but it's a different size with 700C mavic rims. The center of the front skewer to the closest point of the frame is 14"(within a tad)..the difference between the rim itself and the closest point is 1-11/16"(appears close also)..Seatpost height is 20-1/4"..so it probably won't help you there...My top tube appears straight..same year...

If you look at the lower tube in the enlarged picture,it appears bent downward in the middle also..must be the camera....

Looks fine to me. The top tube looks bent the same as the garage door lines look bent, i.e. lens barrel distortion.

Yeah, the seams in the garage door are frowning downward - lens effect.

I'm far from being an expert but the rake on that fork doesn't look right to me.

Looks OK to me - lots of times, photos bend images. Headtube and fork look lined up. I'd buy it.

I don't know about the frame but the fork looks like it may be back a little and even though it could be the angle of the pic if you look at the garage door line starting at the seat post and where it is at the head tube it would also suggest the forks pushed back and the front end is raised.

Photo is fish-eyed. Try this compensated photo.

-Kurt

P.S.: Front will always look larger if the back end is further away from the camera (saddle area can get closer to the garage doors than a handlebar).

Something just doesn't look right on that fork rake. It is definitely shallower than other 25 inch frame bikes I have had.

Nope it's striaght. The tall frames just sometimes are tight. I'd buy it if you think it fits.

It looks okay to me, but what's the point? Photos tell you something, but not everything. The way it looks in a photo does not necessarily reflect the way it is. To be sure, you'll have to check the bike out in person.
