'94 Scott Team Racing; what's it worth?

A pal brought one home today and wants me to clean it up and sell it for him. I know beans about MTBs, so I haven't got a clue what something like this would go for. Had a brief look at it today; seems to be all there and in pretty good shape.

Looks like this one that sold on eBay for $108.

I need a bike like that for my brother who is moving to New Mexico. Wanna trade it for a road bike?

If those are real scott forks, you could do well to lose 'em. They had springs and no damping, and wore out really quickly (an admirable design feature for these...) The chrome sliders wore through and slop and death soon followed. The bike itself was a pretty nice piece - I don't remember who was making 'em for Scott at the time, but if yours is in this condition then it is a good deal at $108... oh, and if you take a big enough hit on those scott bars you'll bend or break 'em. One of my lovely facial scars is the result of clobbering a deep rain rut which caused the bars to fold which caused a serious face plant - I still have bars like that on my hardtail, though (slow learner?)

while I was researching the bike on the web, I came across some info on certain of those forks being recalled for safety defects. I need to go back over and look at it more closely to see if it's been replaced or not. Actually, I haven't even aired up the tires and ridden it yet. My pal had it given to him by his rich cousin, who supposedly told my friend he'd recently put several hundred dollars into it. Of course my buddy immediately took this to mean the bike must be worth several hundred, rather than that his cousin has more money than sense. I made a wild-arse guess that it could be worth between $100 and $200 if we didn't uncover any mechanical tarbabies, but so far I haven't found enough data to back that up.
