Help Identifying Sekai road bike

Hey all,

I am in the midst of converting my dad's old road bike he had as a teen in a SS/fixed. He bought it new but is not sure what year, was hoping you all could help. It is a Sekia, there were two stickers on the top tube that said "Limited" I took off the main stickers on the downtube w/o even thinking to see what they said. A sticker on the seat tube said "Mangaloy: Butted Maganese Alloy Tubing." The frame is lugged as well. Here are the compnents:

Rims: Araya
Hubs: Suzue (Sat No.6.. on the rear hub)
Casette: 6 spd Suntour Perfect casette
FD: Suntour 7
RD: Suntour V-GT Luxe
Brake Levers: DIA Compe
Brakes: DIA Compe
Shift Levers: Suntour downtube shifters
Cranks: SuperMaxy

The SN on the BB shell is Y1N1103

Anyone have any idea what year this might be? I don't care about the value, just want to know what year.

I should have pics in a couple of days if that would help.

Thanks all
Matt

It sounds early 1980s. Most of those components will have date codes that you can decypher using the info on http://www.vintage-trek.com/component_dates.htm .

You're welcome. I assume that the components were dated 1980? Please note that if the components are dated 1980, there is a possibility that you have a 1981 model, particularly if the components are from the last quarter of 1980. Component manufacturers would build and stock parts in advance of the model year, to enure that they had the necessary inventory.
