Well, shortly after posting the last thread, I found one image I was able to do a little inital design layout with, though I hope to find a better image and work with my better imaging program. But here's the first idea ready to be commented on.

Dark gray (flat primer or gloss not sure) under clear coat with gloss red accents on head tube, fork, lugs. (Debating on red stem too)

Same thing in light colors (silver/light gray?) too.

Forget the paint -- I'm impressed with the chainrings/chainstay arrangement; now that's cutting edge!

:D

My favorite colors. I like the darker, charcoal-flavored one. I'd give up the red stem and go for red chainstays. Yum.

That's my super secret design that is going to allow me to win the TDF next year on a 30lb Schwinn while riding backwards!

I have entertained the idea of all red chainstays. I'll work whip that one up next and add it to the list. :)

I like the dark one......
Maybe make the red on the chainstays the same pattern as the chrome
was on the Paramounts. Only about 4 inches up each tube.........
Of course all lugwork and areas where red met dk gray would be
pinstriped white :D

I'll probably stick with the gray chain stays simply because it makes the lugs stand out that much more. But how about a red crank? The crank I've got for this bike is an old SR that came on it with an attached metal guard on it that would look great painted I think. Keeping the crank arms metal colored, just painting the guard ring and spider. ;)

Powder coating might be a good solution for the guard.
It would look different, thats for sure.....
Or....How about developing a 'Spinner' guard :roflmao:

DupliColor spray when done right can be quite durable - esp when cooked at 350 degrees for about 4 hours after painting. :) And yes, I am going for 'different' on this bike, that's for sure. I'm tempted to use a dark gray primer for the gray parts, then use 3 coats of clear directly over the primer.

Painted lugs look really cool, and are an incredible PITB to get right. Luck to ya!
