This is a friend's Ross Mt. Hood set up for beach cruising duty. Unfortunately, somebody took a hacksaw the front brake bosses, so we had to install a BMX caliper.

My '91 StumpJumper retrieved from shop to ride once more.

My late 80s YETI serial# 601,amazingly light steel frame,roller bearing Bullseye BB,with steel Bullseye crankarms,(with a catch), XT-Deore equipped,"never seen one before" XT front der. that has the cable end itself "dead" bolted to frame,shifter movement makes the housing the "moving" part.Is this unusual for this era/Yetis? P.S. someone tried to steal my cranks, and left me needing the left clamp-on,(like a MCs kickstart lever) can anyone save me HELP Have vintage Road stuff or sumpin like a Nuke-Proof rear cassette hub for trade/or reward.Possibly I can get my girln to sleep with parts bearing hero just once? My Yeti Ultimate uses the same outer able push movement. Koga-Miyatas of MY91 came with the same system too. Btw with your mech it looks like the mech is modified with a Weinmann brake calliper bit (or something like that). Shimano carried an official bit for the setup in their line up. Maybe your mech pre dates that bit or maybe the small part wasn't ready available for another reason.

My 92 Trek 990 used the same cable bolted to the frame device. Pretty odd, and it was the only time I have ever seen that used until now.,,,,BD

I may have posted a pic of this before when I borrowed it from my co-workers, but I've since bought it from him and got it all ready to ride. 1994 Trek 8700 frame, with carbon tubes with aluminum stays and headtube and lugs. It has pretty much the full XT group of 1992-3 era, and I've mounted new tires and the pedals and saddle from my cyclocross bike.

I had wanted to use a Nevegal up front and Small Block 8 in rear but upon mounting I discovered the 2.10 Nevegal rubs on the fork! I could have slightly adjusted the dish on the wheel so it wouldn't rub, but figured the first time it got even a tad out of true, it'd be rubbing so I just took off the Nevegal and put another Small Block on front, too. I think it'll be ok for the fire road and light trail riding I'll do on this bike anyway. This is more of a surf-check bike for me (i've got trails right along the coast here).

Just picked this up yesterday. A early 90's Giant ATX 780, with mostly Deore LX (w/ working rapidfire shifters), Campy Stheno rims, and some really sweet bars. I really think I should just get new saddle, grips, and stem and ride the crap out of this thing. So far it seems the best do it all bike I've ever had.

This is mine.
I bought the harness at a sale,
and was moving it a few blocks .
Saw things at this sale I haven't seen in a long time .
Case in point- This was taken near a patio that was oncecomprised entirely of mill stones and sharpening stones .
There were farriers tools, wagon wheels, mechanical birds , telegraph pole insulators, hand crank telephones .
A blast, from the past .

Lotsa Miyatas I see.. Made me remember the Miyata Shredder I have somewhere that I cannot locate a front derailer that will fit the unusual tube shape..it did provide the nice brakes that found there way onto my Yeti (ser #601) shown in a later posting. I believe them to be Petersen`s..

That's a great collection from the Old Garage! It's interesting to flip through those photos quickly to see how the geometries compare.

You can easily bring that Manitou fork back to life with a set of steel springs from eBay. Those are very nice forks for their age.

I've got 2 and both need a rebuild. Can you elaborate on what I need to do to fix them? Thanks.

This brought my Manitou 4 back to full function. It is important to note that Manitou forks had no damping function (other than the stiction of the fork legs) until the EFC, which was the final evolution of the first generation (Manitou 1-4) after which came the redesigned Mach 5.
