Not that old being from 2008, but with 26'er wheels and a triple it still seems old school by today;s standards, so I'll post my just finished my Yorkshire designed but Lynksey built On One 456 ti here.
Fitted larger chain rings so now running 48/36/26, rattle canned the hideous wheelie bin grey Shimano large chain ring silver, but needed to buy a new treking XT front derailleur to manage the 48t ring.
I was hampered on dropper post options by the old style 27/2 seatpost that needed external routing, so have fitted a Thomson 125mm Gravel Dropper, replaced the bars with Renthal Fatbars with 2 inches of rise an cut them down to 660mm, and fitted some DMR V12 Mag pedals.

Chunky rear monostay

Here's my slightly modified Rockhopper Comp.

The stem looks a little shoddy here. It's actually just pollen. The levels were off the charts when these photos were taken.

Those Rock Hoppers always look nice with a bit of work done on them and the tan wall tires really make it pop, along with the purple grips. Where did you get the steam and handle bars? They look great and seem comfortable to ride.

The bars are from Faidale Bikes
The stem was purchase on BMXmuseum.com
I stripped all the powder coating off and gave it a good polish. Then finished it off with some anodized bolts.

Thanks Steve, that's so cool. What a great idea to use a BMX stem with those handlebars.

Finished ‘98 Trek 920 (original post #8472)

Finally finished this 920 for my grandkid. Thought I should bling it up a bit for a young girl who’s outgrown her current bike.

Wow Victorm, that Stumpjumper is like minty new, fresh off the assembly line. Is that how you found it or did you put some work into it? Incredible bike.
What is a higher end group set that came with 90's mountain bikes? Most of the bikes I find have Claris or Altus which I deem to be a cheaper group set.

Thanks for the kind words. Here is the bike as found. I can’t believe my luck to have found a fork in Colorado on eBay I think. Exact matching fork. Paid more for it then the bike but had to have it. Bike itself was elderly gals get around bike so yes in fantastic condition. Full disclosure I got the bike for the thumbshifters I needed to complete my Breezer. Once I cleaned it up I fell in love with it and had to restore it. So yes had to buy thumbshifters to replace the ones I stole of it lol, the disease runs deep with in me.

Good choice to change out to a rigid fork, looks so much better. Old school suspension is not attractive ha ha

If you are finding 90s bikes with Claris, the components have likely been replaced. Claris didn’t come out until 2013 and Claris is a road group. Altus is very much a possibility

Shimano STX / STX-RC also came on the scene - popular on mid-range bikes
mid and later 90’s STX, LX, XT, XTR ... XT and XTR on the higher end stuff
mix of components including Shimano, Grip Shift, Dia Compe, and Sugino also fairly popular on mid range bikes beginning around mid 90’s
