I think that's the first year of LX in the low profile, rapidfire plus version. That was really nice stuff, and not much different from the 92 XTR M900 stuff. Very cool!
I have a soft spot for KHS, as my tandem is a KHS and has served me well for almost 12 years now.

Pretty wild ride retro_d! It looks thoroughly modern to me, how old is it?

I remember huffy making bikes that looked like motorcycles when I was a kid. though that one looks better.

If I had to guess I would say that's late 90's early 2000's with some new parts.....just a guess.

Here's my 1998 Cannondale picked the frame up on a dealer frame exchange program Cannondale used to run and built it up over that winter. Still riding it today.

Pics of the old rig.... because I'm a pic *****

Wow retro_d, that's a gorgeous build!

I haven't seen a pair of Caramba double barrel cranks in ages--let alone such a pristine pair.

There's a very rare (never seen another in person) cnc machined nos Caramba spider/chainring combo hanging up in my basement. Middle and big ring and spider all machined out of one hunk of aluminum. Let me know if you'd be interested, I might be game to sell it and I imagine it could finish off the build beautifully. It's a gorgeous thing and I'd been planning to make a clock out of it

Cheers,

Jonathan

The cranks are from 1994.
The frame is from 1996.
The handlebars are from 1998.
The forks are from 2000.
Shock and post are from 2001.

The other parts are more modern...

1991 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp.

... this was my messenger bike circa 1992, originally Pearl with red decals, I spray painted it black (and wrapped old tubes around it). At one time I had hose clamped sawed-off fork arms to the chain stays for a Mad Max look, too.

Got any pics of the cranks? Might be interested depending on what they look like and what the price is...

17 years is not old. It's not even old enough to vote. I have food in my refrigeration older than that.

"old" is a pretty relative term.. the entire sport of mountain biking is pretty new, but our 80s MTBs are definitely "old mountain bikes"

i was just surprised that that full suspension bike was produced in the mid 90s cause it looks more modern.

My boss calls 10 year old mtb's old, so 80's must be ancient relics to him?,,,,BD

Here is my 83' silver/gray Specialized Stumpjumper. I just bought it two weeks ago. Talk about a klunker. This bike is a tank! Rides great though.

Partial carbon Diamond Back, I think it was one year only. Great riding bike but on the small side for me.
