And my older daughter's 1992 Kona Fire Mountain, I will be blinging this one out with pink bits for my youngest daughter.

Love me some Kona! I used to have a 96 Kilauea but brain farted and sold it several years back. Wish I still had it.

This a Stumpjumper I got last year for $60. I added tires and grips. It was in good running shape when I got it.The previous owner commuted on it daily for many years. Any idea what year model it is?

Does a magnet stick to the frame? If no, my wild guess is 1993 Stumpjumper M2 FS. Nope, changed my mind. 1994 Stumpjumper M2 with suspension fork added later. Decals on the stays are totally 1994 style.

Whatever it is, it was a SCREAMIN' DEAL!!!!

I appreciate the reply, thanks. Though it seemed aged, it looked like the owner took very good care of it.

Apparently the QUINN was an early prototype for SBike.

I have been working on my Diamond Back Topanga I picked up earlier this year, it is coming together pretty good so far and I am just waiting for a few bits to finish it. I stripped it down to the bare frame and cleaned and polished the original paint as best as I could get it without touching it up. I am installing a full 8spd ( a little mix in yrs) Deore LX group on it, with the exception of the Suntour XC SE rear brakes some of which is NOS. Here's a few pics of my progress.

Before,

Now,

Glenn,
Thats a real nice overhaul, glad you are not bothering with a new powder coat and restickering. It looks good. I am really digging those DiamondBack limited edition tires and the NOS Deore LX bits. Are you reusing the original seat and post or will you add some contrast?

Cool bike. If it were me, i'd be hunting down some rue 9/16" DX clone platforms. Those adapters kick the pedals out too far for my liking. What is that rear LX deraileur? looks like you have at least three generations of LX there, the RD is the oldest, then the crank, then the shifters. Somewhere in there, maybe even newer yet, are the hubs.

NIce Ibis! Are those tires new, or NOS? Or maybe the whole bike is pretty much NOS? Sure looks good.

When did they do silver LX hubs? Might have to keep my eyes peeled for some for my Mongoose.

Thanks guys, the seat post will be black but I am not sure on a seat yet and it might just sport one of my Brooks B17's for now. As for the pedals & adapters there NOS Diamond Back's and I am 6' 285lbs with size 11 1/2 6E feet so I need them wide lol. The hubs are LX 9spd which I have that whole group going on a Diamond Back Serrento but I wanted black hubs for that build. I have a mix of LX & XT parts going on 3 different bikes I am building, my 2 Diamond Back's & a GT Outpost. The Topanga is a mix of 7, 8 and 9spd LX parts, I'm not picky it will all play nice together.

Love that early 90's LX. Bought a bike just to get the LX parts off it.
I'm pretty sure that first set of cranks is the recalled cranks. I swapped a set out last fall and Shimano still honors the recall.

Yes they are, I already ordered the kit, that's a bonus I will get the recall kit and add it to the other two in stock. I just came across a few bikes that I can use the cranks and FD's out of the kits on.

Here's another case of bike karma. I helped my neighbor move out of her storage barn when she sold it, and stored some of her stuff in my barn. She had some cool old vintage bikes including a Trek 560, and this guy, an old Univega mountain cruiser, which she gave to me. It needs a pretty major restoration job. It has the crazy-big 38T cog on the freewheel. It'll need a 36-ish inner ring, front mech and thumb shifter. I think my parts bin will come through for me.

AWESOME SCORE!,
I really like this for some reason and would love to have one like it and have been toying on the idea of building something like it out of a Schwinn Speedster I have. I would like to see a build up of it when you are finished with it.
