Steve, Steve, Steve,
You are going the wrong direction.

Purge not pickup.....
Either way, that looks like it was a safe buy for the money.

Full disclosure. Like you I recently fell off the wagon.

Hahahaha...you got me.

I knew we were both going to have trouble keeping the "sell not buy" New Year's Resolution...

Your "lapse" looks pretty tasty...love those Davidsons.

I know I am too stuck up on being a purist when the saddle matches so well, but I only see it as too new. Really like that bike.

That is HOT! Love the build.

Also, agree with you on the saddle, just can't seem to find an original Ritchey in good condition.

Love the black/white theme. I almost think I'd put a black saddle on the bike to let the frame pop on it's own.

Is this a 90s bike?

The paint is so nice, that was the goal, to get it to stand out. I don't think my wife will like that Regal saddle, and have a hunch it will come off for something a little more modern. This bike was put together with wife function in mind, thus the new ugly chainrings, I wanted it to shift perfect, and I didn't have the heart to give up one of my few black SG rings.....

Thank god your wife isn't as tall as you...otherwise you would have had to come up with another reason to add that awesome bike to your stable.

(btw: haven't gotten a chance to ease the X1's from the rims yet...need to thaw them out first...I'll give it a shot Wednesday)

Finished cleaning and mild touch up of the new "terramount". So, on a cold, windy yet sunny day, time for a few glam shots. Some new "wet red" Ritchey bar ends are on their way across the pond. Once they get on the bars, then it will be done.

There are a lot of nice bikes in this thread. Thanks to all.

In celebration of its 20th birthday, here is my 1994 Breezer Lightning. I bought the frame new and built it up when I was in college. It was my main ride for ten years and still ride it, although I do not ride as hard as I used to back in the day.

I built it up originally with:

Bontrager threadless fork
King headset
American Classic, Ritchey vantage Pro rims, Z Max tires (red rear)
Sachs 7sp freewheel 12-28
XT BB
Topline cranks
XTR chainrings
Ringle Zooka stem
Ritchey ForceLite handlebars
Fast Feather seatpost
Selle San Marco Bontrager saddle
Ritchey WCS canti (f)
Dia Compe 987 canti (r)
XT f derailleur
XT shortcage r derailleur with SRP Ti breakaway bolt
XT thumbshifters
Suntour XC Pro brake levers
Yeti grips
Velocity barends
XT pedals with PowerGrips

Its still my favorite bike. Rides so well

This is my "new" 1989 Trek 950 I just bought.

It's going to be my only off road bike. I'm testing a theory that a rigid MTB is going to be better for me than a front suspension bike. I have a bad wrist and even riding on gravel roads my previous MTB would hurt my wrist so bad I ended up selling it. I can ride my Soma road bike (with 32's) on gravel and it's no problem so I think it has to do with the pogo affect of the forks. I'm hoping larger tires on this Trek and no front suspension will allow me to ride off road again. Only riding forest roads and smooth paths so nothing crazy.

My two contributions to my favorite thread.

Diamond Ascent (89' i think?) too small for me but it was 80 bucks and I wanted another mountain bike turned commuter/tour-er. Sadly, stolen a few weeks after this picture was taken.

Marin Indian fire trail, 1994. I think the only original thing on this frame is the seat post. Had too many instances of rim brakes completely failing on the commute to work when the temps were consistently below ten and i kind of despise disc brakes for some dum reason so i made it a fixed gear. Ended up being the funnest bike I had until i sold it when i moved to a snow free state

feels weird to post these piles in the same forum as these ritcheys and cimmarons but it's hard out here for a 6' 3''+ and these are the best i could find.

A smoked paint job DB Ascent EX is not a pile. It's essentially an Apex, which is essentially an Axis. Shame it got stolen, that is one of the best paint jobs on a production MTB.

^ That Breezer is rad. I would put matching Breezer diamonds/darts on the forks if I had it.

^ I agree the 1988 Ascent EX frame is great and is essentially the same as the Apex, but the Axis was Tange Prestige. Axis had the same purple smoked paint job that year though

I dig my Ascent EX

I love your Breezer! The specs on your original build read like today's dream list! I love the tight triangles and tall seat post with the racing profile... screams of Charlie Cunningham! Joe and Charlie did so much to motivate and push the other for so many years. Easily one of my favorites, thanks for sharing!!!
