I saw that one on eBay, I think you got a pretty good deal! However despite what the seller listed I'm 99% sure it's an '86 (I have an '87 in that color). I'd be interested to know the first two or three digits of the frame serial number under the bottom bracket (indicates when the frame was made) and the 4-digit date stamp on the headbadge (indicates the day the bike was built).
Here's my '87. I'm the original owner and in this pic the bike is all original except for the tires and saddle (I've since reinstalled the original saddle, wish I would have kept the original tires!). It has a Sept. '86 frame (I6xxxxx serial) and was built on Jan. 29th 1987 (0297 badge):

I'm delighted with what I paid; I could sell the XC pro II pedals to friends at various BMX sites for half the cost of the bike. That's not going to happen though...I absolutely love these bikes. If you watched this one, you probably watched the green 85 too; the pedals from that bike sold for over $200- because they were mint. The rest of the bike was too; I should see it next week. I've always wanted an 85; I love the bolt on XT hubs, and the filet brazed fork.
Your Cimarron is beautiful; I've loved these bikes since working in a Schwinn Shop in the 80's. Once my 85 arrives, I'll get it cleaned up, and we'll start a "show your Cimarron" thread.

Thanks for confirming the vintage. That seller was apparently selling for a 3rd party and were obviously mis-informed. I did see that '85, that was also a stunner, you're building up quite a Cimarron collection there! I saw that it was without pedals, did you get those as well? The Cimarron is my favorite '80s Schwinn, I look forward to seeing more pics of both of them. I'll have to get some newer and better pics of mine.

1992 Trek 850 Antelope
Hey everyone, my first post. I am starting a project with this bike. I am the original owner, bought in 1992. I am going to be adding an electric assist kit to it. Before I do, here it is in the current state.

Still been riding it too much to take good pictures. Only updates are some new tires found around my basement to get a bit more grip up front, a bit less rolling resistance in the back. The Axis TT is a blast on trails. Perhaps a bit too quick-steering for me. Eventually will be slowed down a bit by a longer-travel fork/slacker angles.
Here it is on a post-work ride at Lair O' The Bear yesterday.

Hi all.. 1st post here. I haven't had a bike in years, but wanted to get back into it, and to have something to go on bike rides with my daughter. So I picked up a Norco Cypress on Kijiji yesterday. The frame is aluminum, so it's nice and light.. Think it's from about 1999 (does that count as vintage?) Seems to be in good shape, just needs to be cleaned up a bit.. I'm probably going to put less aggressive tires on it to start, then upgrade other stuff from there.

^Welcome aboard! The Norco looks showroom new! Nice score. It should serve you well and be loads of enjoyment. I've been enjoying mtb-ing for the first time this Winter, and it's a blast. Even these old girls are still capable enough to be entertaining in the single tracks. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

67 GTs in the barn? I think you need to start your own thread and show us around that barn some.

Well after a 4 month wait I finally have my "brand new never assembled" Sakae Litage mtb frame.
I think it was a good price but the catch is I need to make the rear drops and cable guide under the bb. Neither will be a problem for me and hope to make it a full Suntour fat tire dropbar build. I'm sure this was bought from Japan by a euro bike company to paint/polish and put there own branding on but never used it.
For some reason I cant load small pics direct from my own computer so I'm going to take up most of this page with large pics.

^ Sakae Ringyo Litage series. Sakae Ringyo, also known as SR was a Japanese bike parts manufacturer before the rising Yen and Shimano killed off the Maeda Group.
SR-Suntour is the Taiwanese company that sprang from the demise of the two Japanese companies. The fall of giants.
SR made a Litage road bike that was a closely copied Vitus 979, but included cool differences.
I've not see this mtb version....thanks for sharing!
It's amazingly cool!!!
Congrats on your find.

Is this DBR aluminum or titanium? Looks like it's titanium.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Swapped the wheel set and transmission this am... now it has XT wheels (laced to Araya RM 20 rims), an XT long cage derailleur, Deore brakes, and an XT thumbie running the 8 speed.
Most of the parts are pretty much period correct right down to those Deore pedals... and damn that old XT stuff works beautifully.
And the rims are a nice match to the frame too.

Just placed an order to rework my beloved black chrome High Sierra into a stealthy grocery-getting everyday commuter. Its about to get some Big Apple rubbers, black racks, and a black Wald basket. Photos coming this weekend. The remaining question is...black plastic Longboard fenders, or try to squeeze the big apples under some shiny VO metal ones?
It no longer plays in the dirt like below now that I have a dedicated MTB bike (posted above).

My son has named them Ace and Gary....I posted my 86 here last week, and here it is with my newly acquired 85. Both unmolested, and only needed wax, some simple green, and a little TLC. I am so excited to own these.

That is one sweet bike, congrats on the score! I haven't seen one of those in 20 years, what a beauty! Back in the late 80's and early 90's when I was racing on my college road team, my coach had the same bike, he was an alternate on the '92 U.S. Olympic team. He said the team had been given many prototype bikes to try out, the SR being one of them. On Fridays we did trail rides to change it up, he blew our minds when he showed up to do his miles on that same SR Litage mountain bike. I recall we all drooled over the bike when he showed up the first time on it! Plus it was decked out in full with brand new to the market "silver" XTR. One of his personal sponsors was SR, one day before practice he starts dishing out beautiful SR alloy stems to any of my team members who wanted one. The short one went quickly which was fine with me because I was used to running 130-150 Tioga T-Bone stems on my bikes. I ended up with 3 or 4, I still have 2 or 3 stems in the spare part bins. If you'd like one, you are more than welcome to have the stock stem to go with your fabulous new project.
p.s. Sorry about the flipped photo, it's not flipped on my desktop, not sure what's up... oh well...
