This is a long shot, but do any of you have access to old Bianchi catalogs? In particular I'm looking for the mountain bike sections to add to https://repartodirt.wordpress.com/

Any scans, or leads, or pictures you want to have added would be appreciated.

Yep. Mounts exactly the same and holds panniers just like a dedicated front rack though I usually use it for my kitty litter bucket. I have a few of them kicking around.

I've seen other photo's on the net and it appears those are original handle bars (or quite the coincidence as they also have the same stem).

Question: Does it seem realistic that it could come with a double crank set yet no derailer? There are no marks on the frame where one may have been. I added one for a while by DIYing a cable stop for the guide but took it off and just move the chain with my foot when I need to. I was thinking of replacing it with a single ring to make it more period correct but now wonder if that's the way it came?

Some front derailleurs had built-in cable stops, so it might have had one of those at some point (with a full housing run from shifter to FD), and somehow it didn't mar the paint at all.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. Pics of Maruishis are few and far between but I'm going to try and see if I can find such an example.

Here's a pic from another site dated 2012. The owner is in Victoria and I would swear that is the same bike I now have. The same sugino crank, no FDR, same stem and Handlebars and even the same black rims. Coincidence? or did that bike travel across the strait into a local thrift store.

A-ha! I think that crank is different from yours. And I reckon yours must have replacement cranks on it, then.

Probably tough to come by the 1x version of that crank when it came time to replace it, so they figured the 2x would have to suffice?

I see that now. I had a couple of thoughts about the double crank. One was to leave it as is and just foot shift. The other was to replace the crank with a single when I find one. The third option was to take off the inner ring and make the Sugino a single. Don't know yet but am currently rebuilding it so we will see.

Hope I havent already posted this. I built it up a few weeks ago from a frame I bought on CL for $30 and some spare parts I had, and it's my main ride now. It's technically a hybrid I suppose, but I use it on both trails and the street. I slapped it together pretty quickly (ie half-assed) so I could use it for a ride that day, but am gonna reassemble it this week doing a better job. I'll also change out several of the components.

It rides (to me) beautifully, very flex-free BB on hard climbs, and the OS tubing in general really dampens bumps and ruts. One thing different about it to me is the shorter (than my last mtb) wheelbase. I'm still getting used to how quick it feels in comparison. Also the 700c wheels with trail tires are an adjustment for me too, as I was really used to 26ers..

I like it a lot. I had to pass up a cheap opportunity on the same frame, in my size, a number of years ago since I had so many projects and had just bought a brand new modern MTB. I sold the new bike, but I'd probably still be riding the Raleigh if I had bought it.

Maybe it was just too ugly? Thanks. Here's how it looks now. About a third of the way there. The wheels need rebuilt. I can stand a lot of things on a bike, but peeling plated spokes isn't one of them. I think I am just going to buy new spokes, and relace them one at a time. The rear has a couple of broken ones, and the tire rubs. The rim is kind of toasty, but I have one. It doesn't seem to be the same finish though. More frosted than shiny.,,,,BD

1985 CyclePro Skyline

Here's my CyclePro Skyline that i bought new in 1986. I rode it on our local mountain trails for the first few years but got into sports car racing and the bike got relegated to the occasional fire trail ride or neighborhood ride. I've recently re-discovered riding but i'm much older now so i do 10-20 mile rides on paved bike paths (mostly along various So Cal beaches). The bike is all original except i've upgraded to a gel seat, stainless steel spokes, and replaced the big off-road knobby tires with fat smooth road tires. It's in great condition and rides perfectly.

Just caught sight of the Raleigh. Good snag ! Raleigh USA had their bases covered.

Shame about the levers, if they're the Shimano motor style ones I have some going nowhere at present.

Paint looks good too. Another tall monster to add to the collection ?

Welcome to the Forum ! Glad to hear the bike stuck around for you to rediscover the ride time again. Nice looking and deep yellow paint works for an attention getter.

Cyclepro was one of those names you saw on bikes and gear but I never knew who they were. Your bag looks just like a Cyclepro I have on one of my bikes. Is it a Cyclepro ?

I use my converted Schwinn mostly on the road as well. Smooth ride even over the potholes.
