I picked up a pretty clean Pug US Express this summer in a lot of bikes I bought from a thrift store. It had new tires just installed by someone ( As did a Schwinn Cruiser from the same lot ) but it needed a good service. I installed better quality cables & housings and I had to repaint the stock handle bars as someone sprayed the bolts with a strong rust remover that removed the old paint. I just love the 80's color & decals & if it were a little higher up on the food chain I would keep it, but for now she sits for sale ( not listed anywhere yet lol ).

This Schwinn Cruiser was in the same lot with the US Express above & also had some new tires on it. I liked this frame because it had a built in Derailleur hanger which you don't see to often on these cheap frames. I built a nice Klunker/BMX/MTB out of her using higher end parts from my bins.

Right on, I have a Mojo on the way back burner (I picked up here). I got a P2 for the front end. One of these days I will get to it.

Also, nice to see the hand job put to good use. Always frustrates me when I see V brakes on an earlier Mojo.

I have been looking for the perfect Ibis for years now. Most of my collection is early 80's N. Ca. Mountain bikes, and with that certainly comes Ibis. An Avion, two mid 80's Custom's (too small), the Mojo, and an Alibi, but still I look. I would love to find a 21" mid 80's Custom one of these days. On the positive side, I do have an 00 Willits New Sheriff with a mishmash of new and old that should be in the rotation very soon.

Sounds like an awesome collection. I was mostly into road bikes and road racing in the 80s, didn't get into the mtb thing til the early 90s, and those are still the ones I like best. Only 80s mtb I really remember liking was the Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer, I think because it was a bit quicker handling than the Ritcheys I'd ridden up to that point. For me the Mojo when it turned to 1 1/8th is pretty much the best steel hardtail ever.

For now I personally stick with my WTB Phoenix for that title. Love it.

I got it "mostly" original. I need to re-lace the wheels, with the cartridge hubs. What I put on was a set of black Maillard hub wheels with wide Weinmann smooth rims. The tires are actually crispy, but period correct and vintage Carlisle Aggressor. They look PERFECT on this bike, and when I replace these tires, it will be 1.75 Pasela's with skinwalls. It rides nicely, though it's no lightweight XC bike. I am very happy to finally own one of these. There are not many out there to begin with, but also little info of this era of Raleighs to match. Love this one quite a bit.,,,,BD

I had to put better condition jockey wheels on it, because the derailleur had a nasty habit of dropping the chain off the lower wheel under extreme cross chaining. No problem at all, since I have a seemingly endless supply of them. I am glad I completely checked it out before riding it. I'd probably be looking for a new derailleur if this had happened under foot power. Whew.

This is a scarce mountain bike around here at least. Rodriguez Bicycles, in Seattle, makes their own racing and tandem bikes. They imported some touring and MTB models in the late 1980s using the Terre Tech brand name. This is a 1989+/- Terra Tech Trailite Pro.

The bike was built in Japan by Koizumi. I believe Koizumi made some of the nicer Japanese Centurions.

I bought this at a LBS, probably paid too much for it. But I am a sucker for Deore XT components, Tange Infinity tubing.

Bought it last night for cheap, completely original, like it was never ridden, no wear on the rim from brakes, original Matrix tires even (look a bit dry rotted so I need to get new tires and tubes...). No sun this morning on my garage door... Sorry.

Bought a few years ago needing parts. I have the proper brakes for it, but need the brake lever/shifters. Mountain LX... Otherwise pretty much stock except heavy tires and old seat...

Distinguishing features:
Sleeved top of seat tube
Flattened upper rear triangle stays
U-brake mount under chainstays (no canti mounts at back)
Was wearing XT M730 groupset ('87-'91?)

romperr, yea I bought it brand new at a bike shop in San Luis Obispo, CA. I never seen a frame in black chrome, so I kept it, its a 16" frame, fits me perfect!

1998 getting ready for a ride in Moab, UT.

My son with my Cannondale F1000 and my Amp Research B4 waiting for me to get the front wheel back on. I still have the B4 (at the moment it has a Thomson stem with a broken front plate), wish I still had the F1000 which was a great bike.
