1989 Giant Iguana. My wife bought this new as a gift for me and I rode it on and off road, probably a couple thousand miles in the first few years, then I got into Triathlon and bought a Cannondale R400 to train and race. I sold the Cannondale in 2007 when I got into sailing. I never considered selling this bike, so now I have just recently cleaned it up a bit and am about to replace the original cables, switch to clipless pedals, and put on some new tubes and tires. I know that bar ends are out of favor for most riders, but I still like them, so I think they will stay.

It's alive again! It didn't even need cables, just a few drips of Tri Flow. It's back to snappy shifting and smooth brakes. What it does need is brake shoes. It's got the original Shimano rim killers on it. You know, the shoes that rip chunks of aluminum out of the rims and then grind the rims to death with them. I am hesitant to order Koolstops online, because it may be Easter before I see them. But, I will try to find alternate shipping so I might get them before next weekend. The Vetta Tri shock saddle was too soft, so a Terry Fly with Ti rails took it's place. The tires also got changed to a set of Conti Xkings I had laying around. They fit like it was made for them. Very happy with my $80 purchase.,,,,BD

so heres my 95' specialized rockhopper I bought for $125. I originally bought it to convert into a road tourer, but I took it on some trails once and quickly made the decision to go full MTB.

Hello All,

As this is my second post, let me say thank you to the members here for all of their knowledge and insight. These forums are an incredible resource. I also posted this over in the "history of Ross" thread, so please excuse the repeat.

My question. Has anyone ever seen a blue Ross mountain bike in the Mt. series? - I'm going to look at one that was described as original, with:

Blue ano rims, bull moose bars, big thumb shifters (shimano or maybe suntour?) cantilever brakes, 4130 tubing, and a "Hi Tech" decal.

No other decals visible from posting. Any information you guys have on this particular bike would be greatly appreciated - maybe guesses at the model or position in early ross MTB hierarchy?

Thanks for the help.

I picked up a 1993 Trek 950 last year from Craigslist. It is a heck of a bike. I commute on it and I ride it in gnarly stuff as well. It was a fine winter bike with studded tires. The bike got filthy from winter riding; I just gave it a spring cleaning and overhaul.

Bought new in about 1993 for commuting and kid transport. Recently sold. It replaced a another unit whose down tube broke after a few weeks.

For some stupid reason, I didn't go down to 170 when I replaced the cranks many years ago. Otherwise a nice, comfortable, bike, but I don't miss the weight.

BG frame/fork is great, lots of potential. That would be a fun bike to restore.

@Aemmer
Wow! lust worthy......funny thing is I was actively searching for a Vintage Ritchey just like yours before I found the BG. They both look about the same size too.

Congrats on a fabulous restoration.

What's old is new again. Bruce built this bike as an off road touring bike. Now bikepacking and adventure cycling is all the rage.
When I 1st got this bike the thought of a fresh paint did cross my mind, now I find all the "patina" and battle scars even more appealing. I ride this bike, so what if another nick in the paint.....

Here's my 1991 Giant ATX 760, celebrating our 25th year together Bought this bike new and a Giant Rincon for my wife back in 1991, sold the wifes bike but held on to this one. Always loved the yellow. Mostly original but did save all the original parts!

Bruce was a trend setter by a couple of decades for sure.

When I got the Ritchey it had an amateur bass boat paint job that was pretty scary.
