I really like the way this bike looks and rides. I love how the space between the front tire and down tube is almost exactly the same as the space between the rear tire and seat tube. the bars are a little low, but I have a silver alloy stem and bar combo from another bike that will go great on this one.

Progression from Fat Chance?
And then there is the Ellsworth. Seemed a natural progression from the unsuspended Fat Chance.
Has some good stuff on there to get the weight down. Beautiful welding on aluminum tubes. Englund air kit in the Judy SL forks saves a bunch but does need routine pumping up.
The bike flattens out allot of terrain but has quite a bit of maintenance to keep it working. Bushings in the suspension need regular greasing and it's a tear down job.
Great bike in the right conditions (rough) but there are times when the lighter squirrelly unsuspended Fat is more fun.
Don't mind the dirt, it's a rider.

Ah, I remember studded tires. I sold mine after one winter because I got tires pushing them around.
I can't imagine what a Fat Bike is like but I'm guessing it takes a bunch of hp. I do see them in the forest all the time though,

Fat bikes are worth checking out. I got one this year and it's been lots of fun. It really doesn't feel that slow, but then again I'm not that fast. I'd commute on it ~10miles with no problem. Haven't tried it in the winter yet.

Tires look like what I ran on my Spanish trailbikes but maybe bigger.

What year is that with uncoated alloy shock brackets?
Do you have grease fittings on the suspension? My dealer contacted me the year after I bought mine and said there was a retrofit to add grease fittings but I don't know if it ended up being a production item.

The Controltech seatpost is very light (lighter than the tubing a less compact frame would add). The real weight is in the wheels (Rhynolites laced to Deore hubs) that I will probably swap out with nicer Velocity-rimmed ones in the future.

Just picked up this 90 Raleigh USA Technium Instinct. Looks to be a 60cm frame with all the original drivetrain, so that will be replaced as it's all suntour XCD.

I haven't ridden the bike with its original fork, but the bike is slightly slower to turn than other 90s mtbs I've ridden, I'm assuming because of the slackened head angle. More something I notice on pavement than the trail.
32t Hope narrow wide chainring on front. 10 gears in back, 10-36 cassette. The derailleur is a 10 speed Deore XT with the clutch for chain retention.
