I really like the DTH tires. They seem to wear well and stick to sandy tarmac like glue. They are reasonably supple and as you mentioned, they are reasonably priced. I wish they made them in 700x 35 or 38.

Got this Fisher up and running. Fisher Bulge bars, Rambo 1 1/4 headset, 180 biopace crank. Was full DX build but some of it was borked.

The before picture, a 1990ish Bianchi Ibex, this is my current entry for Clunker Challenge #4 as I only paid $80 for it and its in decent shape for that price. I do have plans for it post challenge and I've had a lot of inspiration from this thread

New shifters and Maxxis on front. Maybe get to new housings and cables tomorrow.
Moving along. Seat and post, pedals, shifters, brakes, grips, most cable and housings done. Waiting on new chain rings to complete.

Ross Mt Hood
All these gorgeous Ross MTBs, thought to post my April find. This Mt Hood is very original including one original Ross knobby. A college bike, very rusty but most of it came up with foil. I like the Cunningham brakes matching my 1986 Cannondale so I know how to set them up. Suntour XC Sport stuff and motorcycle levers, chrome and Araya wheels actually light when compared with hi ten Ross Mt Rushmore I bought new in 1989 and still own and ride. The geometry is identical but that massive stem changes the riding stance forward and lower.
New cables, saddle, and touring tires, all bearings repacked. I am cheap (Noglider called me frugal, how generous) but I also will forgo trading out parts to keep a bike original. I finally got the Nagaoka rear rack straightened up and remounted to keep it level go the ground.

My holy grail mountain bke
Found this local beauty several months ago from a fellow who bought it at an estate sale. He rode it a few times on short rides around his neighborhood before deciding that it wasn't what he wanted. It was then hung up in his house where it remained for 15+ years.
When I went to look at it I found a bike that had a covering of dust that almost totally obscured the name and model....Fat Chance Wicked. I asked if he was interested in selling the bike and he told me that he would have to think about it for awhile. Two weeks later I called him and he said that he would entertain an offer. We met and after some soul searching on his part, I bought myself a mountain bike.
After receiving a thorough cleaning, new cables and lubrication the bike is ready to ride.

Well it's not working yet I'm waiting for some new chain rings to come in. Yes it is a bottom pull derailleur there is a anchor bolt for the cable behind the bottom bracket so when you shift gears the ferrule at the end of the housing pulls the arm on the top of the derailleur down. I will post pictures once I get all the gears on.

Scored a '93 RockHopper off of Craigslist last night for 50 bucks. It needs a little loving, but it's pretty much ready to ride. I love the fade job.

Vintage full-suspension. My latest project; trying to reclaim the magic of 22 years ago when I raced a Proflex 756. The cockpit is all dialed in, but still trying to sort out the correct springs F&R. After riding a 29er the last few years, I forgot how nimble a 26er feels.

There may not have been any dedicated top pull derailleurs at the time. My memory is a bit fuzzy. I vaguely recall some that had a pulley on the back bottom of the seat tube.

I recently picked up this early 90's Cinelli 'The Next Machine' for my wife for super cheap. It is a pretty rare bike and has Campy (I believe Centaur) mountain components. I did a complete overhaul and put on new cables. The saddle was not my my choice but she insisted on a comfy saddle so I delivered. Since she never goes off road I put on 1.25" slick tires. This is her second bike. Her other bike is an early 90's Bianchi Grizzly with a comfy saddle and 1.25 slicks. We will see which one she likes better.
