I didn't know there was a kit available - Learn something new every day
The bike I have was definitely NOT a kit install, though - The frame and fork have factory-welded brackets, to take the drive.
It obviously came that way.

Cannondale Delt V mid 90s

Cannondale frame. Surly fork. Lots of stuff from the parts bin.
I stripped frame, polished with 600 or so grit. Powdered with a smoke clear.
A bit small for me so it’ll be up for sale soon.

Last shot of your RH is great! Been riding a new Regal on my 91 Montare and Stopped by our co-op for some bar ends. Also found a Vuelta leather saddle with beusage that's compatible with Montare's, so moved the Regal to my Bianchi Trofeo for now. Don

1991 Trek 970 Mountain Bike

Here is my Trek 970 Mountain Bike, all original except smooth tyres for road use and Brooks B17 Saddle and Bar Grips & Pedals. The Shimano Rapid Fire changers still work well and I located another set NOS in original box to replace them when they eventually give out. Paintwork is almost unscathed. I ride this bike a lot, one of my favourite rides. Repacked hubs recently and found no signs of wear. The Deore DX & XT components on this bike are such high quality.

Gorgeous Trek! Those Deore DX derailleurs are some of the sexiest ever made IMHO. Now you just need some fenders

Thanks your approval, the rear carrier does most of the fender work. Yes the Deore DX are bullet proof, so well designed and made.

Metal "Rim Strips" ?

yes one rim still has the red/gold foil strip. the other has been replaced with a basic rim strip. i guess one could make a replacement by cutting a long strip from a heavy duty aluminum foil.

The purple 970 is a 1992 model. The 1991 970 was black with white splash and the 1991 950 was purple.

The purple 1992 970 is one of the bikes in the color I am looking for (takes patience when you ride a 22"). My 1992 950 is the same frame with LX components (XT shifters), but black. They are great bikes.

Hi: Yes they are great bikes and you are correct that my bike is a 1992 model but in fact I bought it in late 1991 and the same happened with my Trek 6500 which I bought as next years model at the time. Trek it seems did this a lot. September or October they would start producing next years bikes in the new colour schemes and shipping them out to dealers, just like car manufacturers do.I suppose it encourages purchasers who otherwise would wait till following year, though in my case I bought it because it was in the shop and I liked the look of it and it rode well. It was not a cheap bike, I think I paid around £800UK, can't remember exact amount.

Several bike manufactures still do this as well. I think it's to get you excited about getting the newest model. "My bike is so new that it's next year's model."

It's just marketing.

HAD to pick this one up! Trying to save the bucks these days but for a couple of them, this one is mine. 1996 930SHX 18” MTB by Trek. Only thing not original is the cage, bash guard and air in the tires. Everything looks good. It’s just dirty. Tires holding air, seat isn’t ripped, everything shiftes okay, back brake needs some attention.

This is how it came off the rack. Going to give it a complete tear down, clean, polish and lube for some spring time trails with the son. Size is spot on for my height.

@3speedslow Love it.

I'm sure that stem would appreciate a trip to the hardware store and $1.50 spent on some stainless bolts to replace the rusty ones!

What kinda shape is the fork in?

Thanks!

Yes I have a thing about rusty bolts. I will OX them before making the replace decision. The SHX seem to be in great shape too. Plenty of firm response when I push hard on them. Travel is listed at 46mm

Checking the shop decal I think the store is still in business, in one form or another. Rhode Island! This probably came down with a Marine but stayed behind for me to find.

Tomorrow is tear down day. Bonus is the tire lever set which came in the frame bag

Going to save the nobbies for trail riding so switched them out with Conti town and country tires. Enjoying the ride of this Trek last few days both pavement and grassy dirt trails. Need some new brake blocks, the original Shimano ones are dried hard.
