I just got this at an auction for twenty bucks. It's a late 80's KHS Montana Crest. Lugged frame, double butted cro-mo, and funky 2 tone paint. Needs a little sprucing up, but it will be a fun project.

Is a 94 fully rigid bike considered vintage? A Rocky Mountain Sherpa. Built this up to be my snow bike this winter.

Any rigid bike is vintage, nowadays. This one is beautiful, btw.

Go... get it dirty.

Very cool, your Ibis has similar decals to mine, especially the one on the chainstay. Have you found any web resources on identifying one's Ibis?

Last time I looked the Ibis site had all of the old catalogs. The website is a hoot, btw.

Serotta ATX

Amazing bike! I love the sleek look of a fork that is not made longer to accomodate suspension. Stunning, one of the prettiest MTB's I have ever seen!

Beautiful stuff, Defiant. Thanks for posting those! Anytime you want to post up more pics here, please do. My two favorites are the Serotta and the full-suspension Boulder Defiant. Your namesake, no doubt?

I'm intrigued by that Cook Brothers crank. I've never seen one with a middle ring that large--almost looks like half-step road gearing. Did you customize the setup?

this is the best thread on BF.

Defiant, nice bikes mate, room they are in is nice too. Some of the bikes bring back some memories of living in Colorado.

Why do you all have those heaters like that in the states?

Holy schmotzy, Defiant, I so totally crave your stable! And I love that GT LTS from eastcoaststeve: I used to dream about those GT's back in 1996, LTS and STS were the best looking dual-suspension bikes around! ilikebikes, that Proflex is very cool, with the Noleen shock! Sorry, no pics to show, I only had cheapo mtn bikes until I bought my first "real bike": a 1997 Rocky Mountain Whistler, which is now my foul weather/huge loads commuter. It doesn't qualify for vintage yet, even though it's a rigid one: clean looking, and with a nice burgundy color. Maybe in 10-20 years....

i just went through all 24 pages and am amazed but the quality and especially by the amount of real old (early 80's) mountainbikes.
There are some real jewels there, only a shame that a lot of the pictures gone missing through the years.
