A friend gave me this frame a month or two ago, and just today started working on it. It's getting a triple from a Raleigh Wyoming, and the bars came from the bike shop in the country. The Suntour power shifters and Turbo grips came with them. The wheels are original, and I finally got them from the friend last night. He stripped the frame before giving it to me, and I finally ran across something he couldn't do without, an 84 Trek 460 frame in his size.
I have a front Mountech, but need a rear. I have three on bikes, but none free, sigh... If I have time left over after building the 520 tomorrow, I will put more time in on it. I have no idea of the year or model, but it's lugged Ishiwata 022. Even with the heavy cheapo tires and steeel bars it's pretty light. That may change once it's all put together though.,,,,BD

Here's my 87 Specialized Rock Combo. Not really a true Mountain bike...it was supposed to be kind of a hyrid...but it's beefy enough to handle any trail I care to ride. Summer and winter pics...

80s(?) Rockhopper. Funny thing, I converted it into a commuter a couple of years ago, and always thought it a very useful bike, but never I nice looking one. But I put Planet Bike fenders on a couple of months ago, and now I dig it. I'm trying hard to resist a B17 or B67 for it. And it rides like a dream - really well balanced, if a little slow.

Had the old MTB in the basement to put on the studded tires and snapped a few pics
1987 Diamondback Apex, Tange MTB tubing. None of the stuff above the headtube is original - my brother crashed it and bent/broke a lot of stuff. Crank/BB is also a replacement.

I believe it is a 1992. My boss gave it to me he bought it new. I don't think it had more than 10 miles on it when he gave it to me. I have since changed out the tires to bontrager big hank smoothies and installed a trekking bar. I ride it to work everyday.

My '95 Balance AL550, I've had this bike since it was new. I''ve had alot of on again, off again riding with it. I can just never seem to find anything that I like better. Still has the Shimano Deore LX group with GripShift.

I just read the last year's posts on this thread. There are some seriously nice MTBs here. I wonder if, at 700 posts, it's time to break up this thread into three segments, pre-1990 MTBs, 1990-1994 MTBs and 1995-1999 MTBs. Just a thought.

Two recent additions to my stable! Found the Ross Mt. Hood this morning! Yes, it's identical to the one I posted higher on the page, but it's in MUCH better condition and complete! The Fuji Sundance I sold last year to a friend, who brought it back to me a week or two ago. He never touched it, so it needed a complete rebuild with new tires, and rims (He kept them, lol) Both are great riding bikes, and I'll be putting 8-10 miles on the Sundance tomorrow.,,,,BD
