inspiring yellow Rockhopper! Especially because I am working on a red version
questions:
- do you have more pics? (on flickr e.g.)
- did the polishing work out fine? and machine of manual?
- did you repair paint chips? My rockhopper suffers a lot of scraped of paint spots
got to love those single bright colours!

I don't have any more pics, but I'll take some later and post in this thread. As far as polishing goes, I just used a 4 step process using paste, then a paint cleaner, polish and finishing with wax. All this can be found at your local auto parts store.
I simply touched up the paint chips. Since the paint has faded, I had to mix my own yellow to match.

did some test run on the rockhopper:
- shampoo
- car polish
- wax
gonna strip the bike and do it for every square inch! awesome!
got to find some repair paint
any tips?
edit: Oh and the headset bearings were totally lost. I found out by lifting the headset tube of the fork tube and all rusty balls dropped out of the cage :x

An updated picture of my '88 Kuwahara Shasta U.A.V. (Urban Assault Vehicle)...
Hand built Ishiwata frame with a fixed / ss drive and fairly low gearing so I can ride the trails and handle snow as it was / is my primary winter bike.
With a gimped leg I am finding that I ride this bike more than anything else as the fg really helps me maintain a good cadence.
The 26 by 2 Schwalbe Hurricanes are an excellent on road tyre and I just experienced my first flat on these after riding about 10,000 km on them. They barely show any wear and I think the tube was so old it actually degraded as the valve stem had torn loose.

SixtyFiver, if you post any more pictures of your Kuwahara you're going to have to give it to me as punishment! Just kidding. But I really do covet it.

Don't know if I've posted pics of this here or not so forgive me if I have. Guessing early 90's vintage, Tange MTB double butted tubing, and a rollercam rear brake. Down tube reads Montagna, Seat tube reads Sommita, and head badge reads Montagna Innovation. Google translate tells me that Montagna Sommita in Italian is Mountain Top. Interesting BB. I've never seen anything like it. Picked the frame, headset, and fork up for 20 bux. Anybody know anything about it?

BTW, I have one of those cantilever doodads on my Rockhopper new-in-package that I didn't need. I know I'm not supposed to do this, but if anybody's interested, I'll sell/ship it for $8.
Mine if working fine!

Hi sooner,
My wife has a Sorrento...
We bought it new in 1992 and she still rides it every day. They're good rugged dependable economical transportation bikes.

1992 sounds about right. I believe this model was out when I bought my '93 Nishiki Manitoba. This was a contender that I was considering at the time.

Finally got around to taking some pictures. Its an early 90's (I think) Giant ATX 780, with mostly stock parts. I just replaced the rear shifter and brake lever because the old one crapped out, and I put a new stem on it awhile ago. Otherwise its stock though. I've been considering going with a rigid disc fork, but it'd be a huge pain in the ass to find all the parts I'd need, and I've got no money right now anyway. It might get sold in the near future when I move.

Sourced this bike for a Girl I am regularly riding with. It is an early 90s Raleigh USA Technium Instinct >>
All pics
The red tone is beautifull. Modifications planned for it are:
- greyish Oury grips to match the decals ...and because they are great grips of course
- new XT cantis, pre low profile
- replacing the Ritchey Mud Max' for modern grippy still reasonably light Conti Vertical tires for the dry surfaces we have ovehere and also for the additional comfort offered by their 2.3 width

I've always thought those Raleigh Technium with the straight blade fork were sooo sexy. Straight bladed rigid forks are the cat's pajamas!
Early Nishiki MTB's had a sexy fork, too.

That is a very nice bike cs1
Not so much Techniums where I live. You rarely see a DynaTech, but Techniums are really like a hen's teeth. My Technium was bought in Israel and moved with its owner to Holland later.
What model Technium is that? Chill?
