Hey fellows. Check out this photo of Farrah Fawcett - our 1970's heartthrob. It looks like she is on a Peugeout PX-10.

Can anybody confirm?

Ah yes. Now I remember why I liked bicycling so much in the '70s.

Here is a fine example of the difference between women and bikes: Take this photo again today - same person, same bike. Which would look better?

Depends on how the bike was kept and you know it. :p

uuhh what bike?

T-Mar 10-29-05 07:37 AM

There's no chrome on her stays. She's not a (PX)10.

jhota 10-29-05 10:37 AM

mmmm... cheesecake....

FarHorizon 10-29-05 11:52 AM

And I expected to see a FF decal on a bike tube from reading the thread title! :roflmao:

doglhunt 10-29-05 12:49 PM

Thanks for the fantasy.i love you Farrah.

Poguemahone 10-29-05 04:03 PM

"I'd still rather have Farrah... The bike's an easy find."

Even easier since it looks like a UO8. I like her comfortable cycling shoes, too. Such style!

I completely forgot what I was going to say........

spider-man 10-29-05 07:17 PM

Nice lookin' ride.

Bike's not bad either.

budster 10-29-05 07:23 PM

Was it around this time that American cyclists started to get serious about drafting? ;)

I dunno. Several years ago Farrah was in Playboy. I don't know exactly how old she was, but more than 50. She was in a lot better shape than most of the '70's bikes I work on.

She sure didn't need any replacement parts - or maybe she had some upgrades already, but still a beauty.

Those cycling shorts look uncomfortable!

As You Like It 10-30-05 10:16 AM

^^ Yeah, at least Farrah's swimsuit isn't crawling up her bum.

I think fashions back then were more flattering to the average figure, and the "ideal" female figure wasn't as far removed from the mainstream average body type.

Part of the reason I wear so much vintage clothing is because I find old clothes to have a more flattering cut. Also, because they are way funkier.

I wear vintage clothing mostly because I bought it new...but you are right about the ideal human figure shifting off of the norm. Barbie and GI Joe are at least partially to blame.

Would another angle help?

Yeah I remember that. We use to be boyfriend and girlfriend in San Diego; she'd jerk my chain and I'd grease her saddle. That was as close as I ever got to a Peugeot.

Oh, good Lord. ANOTHER of these "hot female cyclists" threads? Weren't the other threads deleted, both men and women "hot cyclist" threads?

I thought you guys maybe were a little more mature than this by now. I would be ashamed.

The sun came up today. We adore the sight of women today. Stop one and you may stop the other. :)

jhota 10-30-05 05:41 PM

i don't think anyone is claiming Farrah was a cyclist.

and acceptance is heathier than repression.

At my age, I've got one hormone left, and I'm clinging to it tightly! :D

I'm fairly new here, and this is the first such thread I've seen. I imagine when photos of a good-looking male are posted, they get a similar response? Or is all of this [raises patrician nose] beneath us?

I didn't intend to offend any serious cyclists. Or anyone else for that matter. In real life I'm not a lech, but I do sometimes play one on the Internet. For laughs. ha ha. I doubt I'll ever be "mature"; perhaps after I become senile?

I don't get the whole "ashamed" thing. We should be ashamed of enjoying professional photos of a fully-clothed, famous, beautiful woman? I've tried hard to muster at least a small twinge of shame or guilt about that and nope -- it's just not happening. If it were someone's amateur photo of some hottie they saw on the road, taken without her knowledge and consent, then I'd agree it's a bad thing.

Let me guess: if we don't get it, you can't explain it, right?
