Can anyone tell me about 80's vintage CONCORDE ASTORE BIKES
I recently aquired one,
I would like to know;
Who really built them? I've been told Concorde was a Dutch Team? The bikes were built in Italy, and painted in Belguim? Is This True?
The lug work is Colnolgo, some say ReRosa?
Which Columbus tubing they used (my sticker is gone)
Which Campy Grouppo was spec. ( Mine appears to be Triomphe/Victory)
What Hubs, Rims, Tires were original
Which Cinelli Stem and Bars were spec.
What Seat?
Any and all information appreciated!

I would like to know more about the late 80's Concorde Astore as well as I have a frame and fork. The tubing was Columbus Cromer ( sp) but I would love to see pics if anyone else has one.

I don't know if the Ciocc tie is true, but if it isn't, part of the reason may be that both brands had Astore models on the market at the same. However, Ciocc used Columbus SL on their model. I believe they both also marketed Aquila models.
Some good detail pics of a Concorde Astore here:

Funny, I was watching this eBay auction and there are some pretty nice pictures of an Astore here. I had a Concorde a little while ago but it wasn't as nice as this one but I did find that the bike was very nicely built and the general look of it was great. Enjoy it.

here's more than you want to know about the minutae of the bike biz in Italy and Belgium, but sheds some light on the connection between the Ciocc, Concorde and Paganini marques, which may have all been made by Billato in Italy, or at least were at some point in their histories:
It was in =
the 80s when Ciocc were building the Paganinis, and perhaps they gave =
way to Billato towards the end of that decade because Ciocc, like SOMEC =
and other small builders went through some reorganisation. Billato were =
also Padua based and would know Rizato the lug-maker.
Towards the end of the 80s there was a move by three of the largest =
wholesalers in the Benelux and France to form a company with the aim of =
killing off the opposition. the triumvirate was Veltec of Belguim, =
Weltmeister of Holland, and Jose Alvarez, the Naploeon of the French =
lightweeight industry from Auch near the Pyrenees. The first two went =
ahead with the venture and formed CONCORDE, while Alvarez declared =
himself bigger than the other two.. and went on his own very successful =
way.At the start of the 90s, I can't be exact the new alliance backed =
Sean Kelly with Concorde frames for the PDM team.
These frames were sprayed by Van Tperzeele at Geraardsbergen near Ghent =
(the Flemish name) or Grammont (in Walloon) some 1km from the foot of =
the famous Mur de Grammont of Belgian Classics fame.

well, its later, here is the link:
https://s650.photobucket.com/albums/u...orde%20Astore/ 57cm
i've had it refurbished, stripped down re assembled, new parts as needed, Mavic Wheelset, bike is all campy, new sew ups, seat, tape, chain. It is excellent, mechanically. Paint is original.
Id like to get a feeler, I really have no idea what it is worth.
It could be for sale

I just received an email from mr pelizzoli (ciocc)
its about this concorde columbus slx frameset i have
because i couldn't identify my concorde type
and because it has ciocc lugs (like on the Ciocc san christobal) next to "concorde" engravings
i send an email to mr pelizzoli
and he told me it was a for pro team only special build
i quote:
"
The Concorde frames with SLX tubing were for the professional cyclers, like yours it was built from Giovanni in the end of 80s, these models did not have a name like Aquila o Colombo, for the cycler teams reasons.
Good piece of our history, congratulation.
"
so here you have it...
