Identifying pedals

I've several pairs of old platform pedals with clips and straps. Some pedals have a dust cap with a logo that looks like the amalgam of "V" and "P." Others have four hearts with the points touching that look like a four leaf clover.

What brands are these pedals? Thanks!

VP was a brand name back in the day. But I dunno if that is what you got - post a picture...

VP stands for Victor Pedal the company is now called Victor Components, they also make headsets and bottom brackets. One of the leading pedal manufacturers in the world the past 15+ years. They produce their own models and produce proprietary designs as well. Can't remember who had the cloverleaf on the end of their pedal. It may have been Wellgo before they switched management.

Weren't VP and Wellgo somehow related?

No absolutely not. Wellgo was started by a guy named Stanley Wu. His sister Stella WU started Velo saddles in Taiwan. Stella was a much better business person than her brother Stan and she helped to right the boat at Wellgo. They were a distant second to Victor in terms of quality back in the early 90's but their stuff has vastly improved. They are not connected to Victor. They were and I beleive still are fierce competitors fighting for market share. I worked inside the industry specing bikes and buying aftermarket parts and have spec'ed and purchased pedals from both companies in the past.

Strange. For some reason "VP Wellgo" got stuck together in my head at some point way back when.
