Hey everyone. I just wanted to give a shout out to a few fellow BF members who I've recently done some parts trading with. I know there have been a couple of well documented situations in the past that haven't worked out but my experiences have been excellent.
FWIW, Keep in mind I live in Canada and have been dealing with people in the US.

I sent a couple of sets of barcon shifters to top506 and a77impala asking only for postage in return and both guys promptly mailed me back with payments. Thanks guys.

I also sent m theory a set of old Campy record hubs and a freewheel in exchange for some derailleurs and again the package and parts arrived perfectly as promised, in fact he even threw in a nice extra that was very generous indeed.

I know we 4 guys make up a only a fraction of the community but the honor system lives and hopefully the good people of bikeforums.net continue to work with each other.

It's been my experience with the various things I've collected over the years that you will seldom get burned by fellow enthusiasts.

Good to hear about your good experiences. So far I've been very happy with my trades/sales/etc with forum members. As I mentioned to another member this morning about a trade - if I were to even consider about burning anyone I'm sure Marty wouldn't mind hitting me upside the head with a crank arm to make me think better of it. Of course there will always be those who take advantage of the Honor system, but bad news travels fast and those who would are thankfully few and far between in most groups of enthusiasts. A big thanks to those who have helped me out locating / trading / selling parts I've needed. One of these days I hope to have a nicer selection of spare parts to offer for trade.

As one of those lauded above, I've also found that those that share your wierd intrests seldom burn you....execpt with Russian cameras!
I thank roadrasher for chiming in with the data about the shifters, and then making them available for far less than I would have paid on the Evil ebay, if I could even find them.

(FWIW, the Speed Graphic press camera community are a lot like the vintage bike crew!)

Top's right - barcons on evilbay have been crazy as of late. I snoozed and missed a pair cheap recently that were listed under 'Universal Parts - Other' Gah!

cuda2k. wonder of wonders, I found an other set of 7 spd SIS Shimano bar-cons in the parts bin, as with the others, cosmetically no better than a 5 or 6, mechanically A1. If you've got something to trade, like a 44cm non ergo bar lets talk.

PM Me.
