Nice part. Wow! Even nicer bidding. IMHO, at some $$$, these parts no longer make sense.

- a fool and his money are soon parted... the piece does not look like it has suffered 'little use' to me, but then again, i'm not stupid enough to spend $500 for something that can be replaced for one-tenth the price...

- i suppose this is a 'good deal' [smirk] if you're completing a wall hanging?

it isn't a good deal. $200, maybe $300, because the vintage is rare, but $500? Yikes!

There's a very good reason that Kauzo paid that price... It's a '73 dated Super. That's about as rare as a Super Record rear gets.... '73 was before they were available for public consumption.

yeah, I know. Matteo's Faliero had a '73 super record on it as well...but...well, maybe, if you were building a show stopper '74 vintage something, or something.

Here is the website of the guy that bought it. http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/my_bianchi/
He has quite a collection of Bianchis. I didn't see that show stopper. Maybe he is still building it.

Did you notice the list of bidders on that 73 SR?
Kauzo, Ken Denny and a few other of the serious heavy
hitters of the vintage collectors.
Believe me neither Kauzo nor Ken make mistakes when it
comes to bidding on something.

As for the C-Record RD 1986 first generation?
There is a 1985 ( no pat just the 11 mark) without
the jockey wheels, NOS wonder how much that will go for?
Personally I think this was way overpriced. It's interesting that
the bidders were kept private on this sale, I almost wonder if
the whole thing were shill bidding to inflate the prices of
future auction?
an entire c record gruppo sold for $695 (not totally NOS but good to excellent
condition).

Just kind of cool to see such things going on, actually. BTW there's a Rickert up right now too, kind of small though. 7210119368. TOG was interested in this marque, once, I think?

I doubt the buyers of this are fools. They might have priorities different than you, but I don't think they are 'fools'. It all goes back to how bad do you want something? I just spent $1500 for a NOS 15 year old mtn. bike frame. If someone wants to think me a fool, I'm ok with that, please sell me another frame just like it. I'll gladly pay it without a moments hesitation. The seller can think me a fool, but I'd be a happy fool and they would be a happy seller. Everyone is pleased, a win-win situation.

How much did you pay for your house? WHAT? I could live in a yurt for a 1/10th the cost. What do you mean you don't want to live in a yurt? How much did you pay for your car? What? I've never had a car that has been more expensive than my primary bike. It's all about priorities.

An oz. of gold? It's just a metal with no intrinsic value. It's only valuable because someone will pay you a ridiculous amount of money for a tiny bit a material from the ground. Arguably, nothing has any value except for food.

I have to say I was startled to see what it went for and it does look a little tarnished, but when you say that you can replace it for a 1/10th the cost, I challenge you to find a 1973 Super Record derailleur for $56.

If you can, sell it on ebay for $560 and make someone very happy.

Indeed I am. Thanks for that! I hadn't seen an '80s Rickert before; mine are late '60s-early '70s vintage.
