I have a Cannondale road frameset, 1986, metal-flake plum paint, Tange fork.
How can I tell if it was a 400, 600, 800, etc?
I think it was originally all Shimano 600.

Does it really matter, given that the SR frames were all identical and only varied by component selection? However, assuming that it is 1986 and did have a 600 group, I can tell you what it isn't. SR1000 (Campagnolo NR/SR), SR800 (SunTour Superbe Pro), SR400 (SunTour Cyclone). That would seem to leave the SR600 as the only other possibility. FWIW, the 1985 SR600 did come in plum, but used SunTour Cyclone.

I didn't know how similar they all were, thanks for that clarification...
I'm getting ready to sell it, and I didn't want to misrepresent it in my advert.
